The era of America's big empire is NOT over.
But head start programs will be cut. Seniors must eat cat food after retiring at age 70. How can we afford to get involved in another country's civil war when we don't have enough money to educate our own children? Where is the common sense?

The glory of war goes to the politicians but we the people will continue to pay for this foolishness. We are reminded of this every single day as the politicians ask themselves, "What shall we cut, today?" Yet the biggest waste is never cut, the Pentagon budget. Stupid.

3. USA! USA! USA!
Greatest country on the face of the earth. Best in every single category. Nobody on earth wants to fuck with us.

8. For pete's sake
I don't think we should be there. Let Europe/the UN deal with something on their own. However, this was NOT our decision and it's silly to start denigrating the USA specifically over something that a whole bunch of other nations have initiated and signed on to. This is NOT our decision. We are one of many

11. I think you missed the "sarcasm" tag.
I was trying to show how this plays in millions of homes across America. The same homes that listen to Rush or Beck and believe that bullshit. The post wasn't meant to imply anything about American involvement. I posted on an earlier thread that I thought the US was using our muscle to get this thing through the UN and hopefully, the Brits, French, and Italians would enforce it.

Sorry it perturbed you.

16. Oh. That's a "whooosh" then
I am just saying this is such an effort by the UN and so many other nations, but I don't see anybody here going "damn that UN" and "damn those French". It's always OUR fault.

5. If you're going to keep being proud of flying Old Glory
You're going to have to make some sacrifices. We must keep the world safe for our billionaires, and working for shit wages until you fall down dead is just one of those sacrifices. All right, just to keep you from grumbling, here's some pictures of thrilling explosions we're creating on a bunch of dark-skinned people half a world away. Happy now?

My state is cutting 10 billion dollars from education.
I'm glad to know that money will go to something more important, like inflating the margin on fuel and ammo supplies for the military's new glorious mission. I can just see the people of Libya cheering, with flowers raining down upon our soldiers as they pass by. Democracy's on the march! Yee-haw!

10. I'm not interested in an Empire.
I'm interested in America remaining exceptional. By its own merits, not by preying on others, or others preying on us.

12. Exceptionalism is overrated.
Unless having an empire maintaining military and an oligarchy is exceptional.

13. Exceptionalism redefined.
We need to change the rules on what defines exceptional.

How about exceptionalism as in restoring America as a bastion of middle class upper mobility, or as the shining beacon of environmental pollution control standards and clean energy innovation, funding for schools and top rate education, that kind of thing?

Yeah, I know, it'll require us to practically split in half and leave the South to themselves...
