Who are you going to believe?
If you opposed the Iraq War and support Operation Delta Dawn, then you’re a hypocrite. If you opposed the Iraq War and oppose Operation Delta Dawn, then you’re a hippie. This means that the only people we should listen to here are those who supported the Iraq War. Similarly, the most reliable information about current economic policies come from the people who caused the financial crisis in the first place.

5. Huh? I don't consider people against Operation Odyssey Dawn and the Iraq War hippies.
Edited on Wed Mar-23-11 01:49 AM by joshcryer
I consider them either highly uninformed or utterly stupid for being against Odyssey Dawn.

6. josh, please inform us then
Edited on Wed Mar-23-11 02:07 AM by Runework
since you are so manifestly smarter and better informed than us stupid people who have misgivings about this.

Who are the rebels?

Will oil companies no longer pay that 93% tax on production if qadaffi is deposed?

Are we in a sudden, miraculous break from history wherein the US only considers humanitarian aspects, as
opposed to overthrowing governments (ie Iran 1953) for our own interests?

Since you are so informed, Im sure you know all about the PNAC (neocons). So , please explain why we- you, I and the rest of us- on this site should feel comfortable that Obama met recently with R Kagan , Eliot Abrahms and other neocons.

7. Because this war mongering dick in the WH has a (D) behind his name.
The dead are just as dead and the maimed are surely just as maimed and when this all goes sideways we'll still be just as fucked.

12. Take it from the wife of Libyan citizen journalist Mohammed Nabbous, killed by Gaddafi forces:
"We started this in a pure way, but he turned it bloody. Thousands of our men, women, and children have died.

We just wanted our freedom, that's all we wanted, we didn't want power. Before, we could not do a single thing if it was not the way he wanted it.

All we wanted was freedom. All we wanted was to be free. We have paid with our blood, with our families, with our men, and we're not going to give up.

We are still going to do that no matter what it takes, but we need help. We want to do this ourselves, but we don't have the weapons, the technology, the things we need. I don't want anyone to say that Libya got liberated by anybody else.

If NATO didn't start moving when they did, I assure you, I assure you, half of Benghazi if not more would have been killed. If they stop helping us, we are going to be all killed because he has no mercy anymore.

Yes people are going to die from the airstrikes.

But less people are going to die.

Doesn't that fucking goddamn count? At all? Doesn't that merit a bit of fucking consideration?

Ugh.

8. And I consider those who support this attack on Libya to have a different opinion
I don't believe most are highly uninformed or even stupid. I believe they are just as concerned about this country of ours as I am and have probably studied the issues as carefully as I have and have merely come to a different conclusion. I don't believe those who support this attack to be correct in their support but I don't think they are stupid.

I am a Democrat and I know that not all Democrats will agree with me on this issue or on many others issues. We are the big tent party. And I wouldn't want to belong to a party where those with a different opinion, even on something as important as military intervention, are told they are stupid.

9. Who are the people engaged in battle?
Are they Muslims, or Christians or ??? Do they want to install a theocracy or just another Dictatorship only with a new Dictator? How is this going to end? If we stop bombing will all the shooting stop or will it simply resume in another area? Are these "rebels" friends of the west? I remember when it all first started the rebels were adamant they did not want Western powers to interfere in what was taking place..Who speaks for the "rebels"? Please inform those of us that are so uninformed so we can support the bombing and killing of women and children as you do..

But if you were informed you would know that.
