Lessee now--
Japan in the midst of a tsunami disaster & multiple nuclear meltdown--

A new war in the offing in Libya--

Republican Governors across the nation attempting to destroy unions and the Middle Class in general--

The Koch brothers at large (VERY large)

Global warming proceeding apace--

The Gulf still rimmed by the world's largest bathtub ring--

Prices of necessities skyrocketing (but you can get a lot more iPad for your buck, so that's OK)--

Real unemployment still in the high teens--

And I'm sure I'm missing a lot that could be added to the list--

Just remember, folks, it's always darkest just before all the light disappears entirely.

2. What Can Be Said....
...at this point?

I realize that the President needs vacations and I also understand that they really aren't vacations - He is always working. However, he needs a new PR person or something. The American people really need to see a President that is "fully" engaged. Even if what he accomplishes on vacation is the same as it would be in the Oval Office...he needs to appear to be more involved.

Just my opinion.

Just to clarify because I may not be as informed as you...

This was NOT a vacation?

Do you believe that the President is as engaged in the major issues of the day as you would like him to be?

10. Vacation is a rightwing talking point--feel free to look at what he actually did there
Whitehouse.gov has his complete schedule on the trip--the whole Latin America trip was about bilateral talks with heads of state (i.e. a diplomatic mission).

13. It was not a vacation. Trips like that made by the President
are planned months in advance of the event to arrange security, itinerary, etc. It was a trip to improve trade relations between the U.S and several South American countries.

6. Natural disasters aside, all those things can and will be defeated.
Not by tomorrow though, it might take 20 years.

The only way to guarantee things wont improve is to give up.

15. And all that just in this month
Don't forget the Middle East is exploding messily, Mexico is being overrun by crime cartels and earthquakes in New Zealand, and floods the size of three US states in Australia.

I feel like I'm getting whiplash.
