Hulu Plus?
I wanted to watch Stewart and Colbert, so I signed up for the free week of HuluPlus. The streaming was fair, despite my really poor connection right now.

I don't get any TV at all and use Netflix for movies.

Other than Stewart and Colbert, are there other shows worth getting HuluPlus for? I haven't really done much looking around the site. Is there a trick for getting it to buffer while you pause it?

We have ordered a booster and antennae for our internet connection and I am thinking of dropping the netflix CD option if it works. Is the $8/month for Hulu worth it?

1. I am thinking along the same lines
I like to watch TV series, and lately, I've gotten a few that I didn't like that much. With streaming, I can just watch an episode, and if I don't like it, I can try something else immediately.

Furthermore, I already have a bunch of CDs that I ordered from the UK.

While Hulu and Netflix seem to have a lot of the same material, Hulu seems to be stronger in classic TV and, of all things, Korean dramas, as well as a couple of TV series that have been listed as "coming soon" forever on Netflix, such as the Stephen Fry "Kingdom" (which would appeal to Doc Martin fans) and Apparitions.

2. We're big fans of The Office, which is housed on Hulu.
The best thing about Hulu Plus is that it holds the current season of shows where Netflix is behind a season or two.

4. But not on my TV. I can watch it on the iPad, but like to watch while cooking dinner
and enjoy it with my better half.

5. There are ways to connect your PC to the tv.
But you have to have the proper wires and video card. :) We used to have it hooked up like that. How do you watch Hulu Plus on TV? Roku box?

6. Samsung box (same as roku)
It's great for streaming in our location and the buffering allows us to watch in higher quality.

7. I watched some series I started watching on Netflix like Psych that I never watched

when we had cable. Then I watched the rest on Hulu. I like Hulu because it will just go to the next episode. Before the daily show and colbert though I was honestly thinking of cancelling it because I don't watch it that much. My kids love watching america's funniest home videos on there. We dropped the Netflix CD option a long time ago after the movies would just sit there unopened and I'd send them back unwatched. As soon as they allowed just streaming I dropped the discs. Wasn't the money... No one was watching them.

What device do you use for hulu? Roku? Not sure if that is available for other things so forgive my asking. Not sure why you are having issues with buffering. What kind of router do you have? Sometiems I lose the audio video sync and sometimes it freezes on me and I will ff a second and then play. Not sure about your issue. If you do have a roku, have you tried the http://www.roku.com/roku-products">roku webpage? Just go over to the support section. I am also a member of a http://groups.yahoo.com/">Yahoo Group called RokuDigitalVideoPlayer. If you go there and search and join that group, you can ask they are very good at help with most anything there.

8. We are using a Samsung Blu-Ray player that also does what the Roku box does.
We currently get Netflix, MLB, vudu, hulu and a few other things.

We have issues with buffering because we get our internet through cell phone service only and are in a remote location. It's not the the device's problem. Honestly, we are thrilled to get anything at all and don't mind the occasional stops while the machine catches up.

I am still not sure about Hulu. I think I will keep it for a month and see if it is worth it. Same here with the discs - I am going to drop that part of my netflix service.

Thanks for answering!

9. we don't have a bluray player. we have a wii that we can watch netflix on. we dumped our satellite
and got 2 rokus figuring they were worth it since we were paying that much a month for the satellite. the cost of one of them that is. it is a good idea to get the free trial to see if you even use it. if you don't then it isn't worth it. we do use netflix all the time. we would have used playon if our computer was better. either that or our router. i wish it worked better. maybe someday we will have adequate equipment. but we don't now. as it is we could hook up bob's laptop and watch stuff that way if we were desperate for something we can't get which we aren't.

10. Frontline, American Experience and Independent Lens are probably going to make
this a keeper.

Those are all shows that I miss a lot and can't get any other way.

So, I will give it a month, I think.
