I suspect all Netflix subscribers got this email today???

"Netflix" will refer to a streaming only site.

DVD by mail service being renamed “Qwikster”, a separate site.

There will be separate accounts, separate sites, separate billing if you get streaming and dvds.

"the Qwikster.com and Netflix.com websites will not be integrated."
That means you have to switch between sites to see if a movie dvd is available streaming or vice versa.
2 queues.
2 billing statement sites.

He also said, on the blog:
"Old Fogey discs will last a long time.
Part of the reason we setup Qwikster was so it last a long time too, focused on DVD."

Those of us who cannot get streaming will eventually be left out in the cold when the dvds go away.
Netflix stock prices are now 40% down from a year ago.

1. Yes, I saw that. Very disappointing

"Death wish" was the first thing I thought of. Are they trying to drive us away? I love Netflix and don't mind the monthly price (especially when I hear my friends complain about their cable bills!), but making the service less convenient is a big, big mistake.

2. Yahoo reports they lost one million customers due to price increase this month.

"the cost of a subscription that included unlimited online movie streaming plus one DVD-by-mail at a time went from $10 per month to $16 per month. That 60 percent increase has cost the company about 1 million of its 25 million customers, a greater exodus than they expected, company representatives have said."

3. I don't use the streaming so my rate went down

We've been very happy with watching British tv shows on DVDs. I hope they continue to offer these.

So what happens to when you rate movies? Do they keep those separate as well or do you ratings affect both streaming and DVDs?
