For those who use the Roku box, you are missing a lot of information and entertainment
if you do not check out their channel store and get the many channels that are available mostly for free. One is the Roku Newscaster which has news and commentary from all the major networks including C-SPAN, NPR, and the BBC. You can watch Obama's latest address from Saturday as well as last night's Rachel or Keith. There are many others as well including radio stations from around the world.

So check out the selection of channels available on the Channel Store on the Roku box as well as the many private channels that are available (right now I'm enjoying justin.tv) and if you look further down on our Netflix Streaming Videos thread page you will see how to get the private channels.

1. Free you say, that is what I was wondering. The box price is
reasonable but do you have to pay for subscriptions was my only question. I don't want too many subscriptions. Is it anything that streams free online is free?

2. I'm curious about this as well
I steam solely from computer and wonder if the Roku box is worth the investment, or should I just break down and buy a good long range antenna.

:hi:

4. Check out all of the channels here, with more being added, not including private channels.

Click "all" and you will see all that are there. There is much more to Roku than simply the Netflix streaming. Even just the Amazon channel is great and I've used it a number of times to rent just released streaming videos and they always have 99 cent specials every week.

5. I just got the Roku box, Inchworm, and there's not monthly charge.
But they do ask that you set up an account with means of payment (credit card or paypal) in case you order a movie that has a rental cost associated.

3. If you are already using the Roku box to stream Netflix, then it is paid for.
If you are using online streaming for Netflix videos that means you already have a high speed internet connection, so that is already paid for as well.

Most of the Roku channels are free, meaning you do not have to pay for any subscriptions or pay for anything for which you are not already paying for.

The Channel Store states which channels are free and which require a subcription.
