Many only use their Roku box to stream Netflix, but there are also lots of free channels.

Instead of selecting Netflix from your choices on the tv screen, click on the Channel Store and scroll down to News & Podcasts. There, choose to add the Roku Newscaster.

Once that is added to your channel lineup scroll over and select it, then choose NBC (there is also CNN, ABC, CBS, NASA, Cnet, Current TV, ESPN, FOX, C-SPAN, NPR, PRI, and the BBC). From the NBC lineup simply choose Countdown w/Keith Olbermann and Friday's show will be there, but I don't know for how long. No commercials though.

You can also watch Rachel there, but if you pick C-SPAN you can see Obama's last weekly address: "We Can Out-Compete Any Other Nation".

1. Thanks to your instructions, I just watched it.
Since I knew what was going to be at the end I cried, too. :(

2. You are welcome. There are too many people with a Roku box who don't know what they are missing
by not checking out the many other channels that are available to them. Even using Amazon to rent a $1.99 movie or even a 99 cent one without having to leave home is pretty nice, especially on a cold winter's night.

3. We get Amazon video codes quite often...
so that will work well for us too.

Is there a way to watch the Colbert report via the Roku box or not? Also, is Hulu plus worth it or is it the same as regular Hulu? I watch it on my Mac but would love to watch Modern Family and a few other shows on the larger tv.

We are using the Roku for our bedroom tv (where we keep the Mac also) and we use a PS3 for Netflix streaming on the larger tv in the family room. Thanks!

4. The Colbert Report is on Comedy Central which is available online on PlayOn:
http://www.playon.tv/content-channels

You can check out the channels at the link. Roku got playon in October but then just as quickly ungot it and it was removed (google roku+playon and you will see about it). Supposedly it is available as a private Roku channel but I cannot get any of the codes to work (such as PLAYON or MYPLAYON).

Is Hulu Plus worth it? I don't know but here are some opinions: http://www.google.com/search?q=is+hulu+plus+worth+it&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

My Roku box is by my 50" plasma in the living room, but I have run lines to the tvs in my 2 bedrooms so I can watch it there. You can also take your Roku box with you when you go on vacation as long as there is a fast internet connection, plus I believe you can have up to 3 Roku boxes on one account so people could watch different things in different rooms. Even with 1 Roku box you can watch one thing with the box and another at the same time on the computer.
