RNC Compiles Book of 500 Clips to Use Against Obama

RNC Compiles 500-Page Book of Clips to Be Used Against Obama—Report
By Alexandra Jaffe | Sunday, January 1, 2012 | 2:01 p.m.

The Republican National Committee has developed a 500-page opposition research handbook that will be used to unseat President Obama in 2012, The Washington Post reported on Sunday.

The book, compiled by RNC staffers and interns who spent time patrolling the Internet and television in a windowless room at the RNC headquarters, is entirely online and already in use today. It documents hundreds of specific promises Obama made during his campaign and presidency, juxtaposed with news clips and statistical evidence that prove he has not delivered.

According to RNC chair Reince Priebus, Republican attacks on Obama will prominently feature a clip from the Today show in 2009 in which Obama said that if he hasn’t improved the economy during his presidency, “then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”

The GOP strategy is to refrain from attacking Obama personally, as polls show he is still well-liked by many voters, even if his policies aren’t. Instead, they aim to undermine him with his own words, by showing clips reflecting empty promises and lackluster economic improvement. The RNC has compiled location-specific promises Obama has made and plans to roll them out via op-eds in newspapers and localized ads when Obama hits the campaign trail. Voters in Iowa can expect to see new attack ads featuring clips from Obama's victory speech there in 2008 on Tuesday, and the RNC plans to buy ad time in other primary states over the coming months.

and tack on the vote in whichever of the houses shows the republican obstructionism to achieving it.
He has brought almost all of his promises to the table, only republicans have prevented the move forward.

We let the No on 8 campaign have too much say in how that campaign was handled, don't let us make the same mistake with Democrats in 2012. If the DCCC isn't doing the best thing to bury the thugs, we need to.

police goons who have assaulted American citizens for peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights, etc.

If he would do so, he would be well-liked by even more voters.

Will he do so?

If not, will some Obamabots please give us some talking points that we can use? And please make them fresh ones, not just like "Do you otherwise want to see Gingrich in the White House?," etc.

Limbaugh announced their agenda before Obama was even inaugurated, they want him to be a one-term President.

Aside from that they have absolutely nothing to offer the voters other than more hate and heel-dragging.

22. Agree completely ...

The GOP's strategic goal is to bring the US government to a HALT ... and that's what they have tried to do for all of Obama's first term.

Obama has a number of very strong cards to play ... one that the GOP might not be thinking about yet is the DOW JONES average.

It had fallen to about 7500 as of the day Obama took office. Its now at about 12k. If its anywhere about 11k at the election (and I think it will be) the GOP's claims that "Obama is bad for business" land directly in the trash can.

Even people who don't have a nickle in the stock market are aware of the DOW, and its overall movement, and it is a popular indicator of the economy (not the only one for sure) ...

But there is NO WAY the GOP can refute a DOW increase of 4,000 points since the day Obama took office ... the DOW was DOWN around 3,000 points at the end of Bush's Presidency compared to the day he walked into the office.

UE will probably be back to where it was right around when Obama took office ... its was 8.4% in Feb 2009, which is when the stimulus passed. Obama will be able to point to that and say "I stopped the collapse" ... and it will be true.

Saved the US Auto industry ... killed OBL ... ended Iraq War ... DADT ...

The GOP will be fighting the past, "the last war" ... and Obama will be talking about the future.

when he intends to run like Harry Truman did against a "do nothing" Congress. With a 5% approval rating for a GOP run Congress, how can they credibly try to sell people on how Obama hasn't delivered on promises when they've refused to allow Obama any perceived victory and they brag about it?

Apparently he's revolving the whole GOP campaign around Obama's 2009 statement about improving the economy.

The problem he has is, the economy HAS improved under Obama. It hasn't improved enough, and it might improve more if the GOP didn't think its only job was to obstruct the Democrats, but it's better now than what Bush left him with.

While I agree that the DOW is just one indicator of the economy, and not even one of the best indicators ... it is well known, and even people with no money in the market recognize it, and see its ups and downs as an "important" indicator.

The Dow is currently up more than 4,000 points since the day Obama took office.

Can't wait to see the GOP explain THAT!! In one term, Obama has rescued millions of 401ks!!!

Good luck GOP clowns.

24. Question about a specific quote
Mon Jun 4, 2012, 01:07 AM
Jun 2012

Hi, in the heated discussions my coworkers and I have at work, one thing they persist in throwing out there is the taped interview in which Obama makes the infamous "one term proposition" statement. Every time that clip shows up on a website, it ends suspiciously abruptly after Obama says the famous phrase. This makes me think more was said that detractors don't want to be heard. Has anyone here heard what was beyond that point? I'd love to go to work armed with something to discredit the negative context of that statement.

The actual quote appears at 4:42 in part one. It appears to be the end of that line of questioning, but people can listen to the conversation up to that point to determine the context.
