and agree people should talk about gun control if they want to, but wasn't there a nicer way to say what you said to the OP? You may or may not care, but what you wrote came across as a nasty comment, and I remember when DUers were a little more respectful of each other than to say "That's the sound of nobody giving a shit." Now of course I know this post is an invitation to say something nasty to me about minding my own business or whatever, but I am willing to risk it. I think we should call each other out for posts we don't like rather than lamely "alerting" and running to a jury. I think that has just caused us to be even more rude. But that's just me.

Especially in the wake of a national tragedy in which you're chastising people for discussing a very important topic. If you're bored of gun control threads, don't read them. If you're tired of DU, take a break. But don't criticize people for discussing a topic of importance. That's what DU is for.
