Look at the history surrounding the destruction of the Whig party at the war of 1812. The Whigs were against the war of 1812 and were suspected of colluding with the British. Their political opposition at the time was able to paint them as anti-American and traitors and that was the end of the Whigs. However the viewpoints of their supporters persisted and were the conservatives of the next generation of political parties.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer. I still want to see them fold and lose a number of elections and control in the very near future.

It sent four members to the White House between 1840 and 1852.

Another Whig Representative was Abraham Lincoln, who later became the first Republican President of the United States.

History is written by the winners. If Shitler is allowed to run amok unchecked by the rethugs, they will have won and THEY will be writing the historical narrative from that point forward. I fully believe and expect they will do everything in their power to prevent their Dear Leader from being taken out. Plan on massive and mass protests worldwide, followed by unprecedented and draconian police and military response in the wake of them.

Indeed, history is written by those with the power to control what is written. When they were down to just a few dozen legal books, they required censoring even those books and rewriting them to conform to dogma. The Spanish Crown outlawed writing anything whatsoever about Natives in the New World after 60 million died in their genocide as they stole all the gold in the "New World" the "discovered" so conveniently. And today we still believe the did not know about the Americas and the cities of gold in far China beforehand.

History is also written by archaeological evidence, and they they did not destroy that book in its entirety, albeit they tried. The truth will out some day.

I think we can also get some idea of what is to come from what they can say and impart as well as their attitudes. Not even the republicans are chiming in with trump about how this may soon end, no collusion, I'm free of sin, etc. The degree to which the republicans attack Mueller and the FBI and do not say trump is innocent is the most enlightening aspect of reading the tea leaves on this.

Robert Mueller expected to arrest these five people in Donald Trump’s Russia scandal
Bill Palmer - Mon Jan 1, 2018

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has already arrested four people in Donald Trump’s Russia scandal, with two of them haing having pleaded guilty. Now comes the question of who’s next. Some names are easier to guess than others, based on existing grand juries and previous leaks. But now the experts are focusing on five names who could be the next to be arrested – and most of them are major players in the scandal.

We’ve already seen the arrests of Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Trump campaign adviser Rick Gates, along with the announcement of the earlier secret arrest of Trump adviser George Papadopoulos, and the recent plea deal by Michael Flynn. A source inside Trump’s inner circle has given five additional names to CBS News (link). On the list is former Trump adviser Carter Page, who testified to the House Intel Committee on Thursday that he did indeed meet with Russian government officials during his summer 2016 Moscow trip – and that he notified the campaign about it.

Trump campaign official Sam Clovis is also on the list; he reportedly testified before a Mueller grand jury earlier this year, he’s reportedly a cooperating witness. Trump’s longtime personal attorney Michael Cohen is on the list, which may explain why the Senate Intelligence Committee canceled his scheduled public testimony at the last minute without any resolution.

The two names that may raise the most eyebrows are Jared Kushner and Felix Sater. ..............

It might make it look like Mueller is doing the Democrats' bidding. While it makes me hopeful to hear Blumenthal's remarks, I wonder if he should be saying such things publicly.

Those Blumenthal tweets were the concerning part. Stating what Mueller will do. So if and when Mueller does it, the opposition can say that Mueller is part of the Democratic witch hunt..."see? He's doing their bidding."

Seth Abramson tweets are fine.
