(5,042 posts)They should have known her deep mental illness would overtake everything on the project.

(4,429 posts)when it first started. She really broke ground.
But listening to her talk about politics.........or anything......she's really ignorant.
I don't have a tv anymore, so I won't be adding to her $ either.

(683 posts)Ya never know with her, tho . For example, she supported W for awhile, and then next thing you know, she was bad-mouthing him. I wonder if her devotion to Trump will last. Disgusting.

(6,911 posts)Nobody wants to see her washed-up trainwreck of a show. When she is cancelled, she will whine of a left-wing conspiracy against bad, right-wing actors. And then I will say it's no conspiracy, it's just business. Thank goodness for the free market on this, sponsors won't pay for crap programs. I hope they haven't filmed more than six episodes.
As we say in the biz, there will be no "back nine" for this show.

(36,766 posts)It was a great show about a family's struggles.
Then Dan died and they won the huge lottery.
It sucked after that.

(47,397 posts)and I have been surprised at how liberal the show was, occasionally ahead of its time. As a result, I had always assumed that Roseanne herself was more on the liberal side. This is very disappointing. I was looking forward to seeing some of the cast reuniting, especially John Goodman, who played the most realistic working-class dad that I've ever seen on TV.
As a family, the Connors really did resemble blue collar working families outside of Chicago, though often wittier than most that I've known.

(47,397 posts)and she did used to be more on the liberal side, but she has been battling mental illness her entire adult life. Some of her beliefs right now are polar opposite of what she believed years ago, before Breitbart and InfoWars.
This article from last summer gives a better overview:
How Roseanne Barr Abandoned All Reason and Embraced the Alt-Right
In May, ABC confirmed that Roseanne, the beloved TV comedy, would be joining the ranks of 90s reboots (alongside fan favorites like Will & Grace, Twin Peaks, and The X-Files). Unlike some of its outdated sitcom peers, the Roseanne Barr and John Goodman-starring revival promises to be rather timely. When Roseanne premiered in 1988, it was heralded for its honest portrayal of a working-class family struggling to make ends meet in the Midwest. Back then, making a sitcom about a less than aspirational family unit was a risk. But in 2017, with executives overtly competing over the Trumpster demographic, a TV show about a normal American family (read: white people who may or may not read InfoWars) is a newly hot commodity. According to an ABC announcement about the reboot, The Conner family will continue to deal with the economic challenges of living pay check to pay check in 2018.

I don't know if it would fly nowadays - everybody is so PC and can't seem to laugh about the absurdity of life anymore. Comedy is supposed to be sanitized for our protection now and it's always about the children.

(14,173 posts)How can any person deduce from Trump's praising those that chanted "Jews will never replace us!!!" in a Nazi march, as "good people" that he "likes Jews"
Or that he is "fighting pedophiles" by supporting one running for office?
It is sad to watch people I had some respect for reveal their own blind stupidity and bigotry.

(3,818 posts)All very funny women centered shows but wholly unrealistic, which is why Roseann was a breath of fresh air. It wasn't about people who had all these glamorous jobs and stuff. It was about paying bills, children getting into trouble, you know, real life.

(30,540 posts)I wasn't going to watch the redo no matter what, Rosanne was always trashy (deplorable) IMO .
