Im very happy that the boycott is hurting them. A ceo who is ruled only by the dollar, Im glad is all. And that they are trying all kinds promotions and it doesnt increase business.

I am so glad we can exert boycott power. Many in Alabama said, we don't want to wind up like N Carolina.

(30,712 posts)actually worked. So often, the calls to boycott that I see are ineffectual. I may choose on my own to refrain from buying products produced by, for example, Koch Brothers companies. But I don't expect my personal choice to have that much impact.

The only negative of Papa Murphy is their lack of Alfredo Sauce, since I like Spinach, Mozarella and Feta with Alfredo Sauce.
But, they have a good second with their olive oil and garlic base.

(4,509 posts)When he claimed if Obama won he would need to raise prices .50 in order to offer his employees insurance. I bet I wasn't the only one. When people actually do what they say and boycott something, it takes a while, but it will work. This is proof.

TexasBushwhacker
(20,131 posts)He was greedy because he was unwilling to absorb the cost of health insurance but he failed to realize that most Americans, even Republicans, would happily pay a little more for their pizza if it meant full time employees got health insurance. Instead of providing health insurance, he cut all full time employees down to 29 hours a week or less. So now they're poorer AND uninsured. What an asshole.

(7,519 posts)The "John's Favorite" in regular or pan crust was the closest thing in taste and texture to a pizza place we had in the 80's called Panteras... That was before pan pizza, it was like an inch of sausage and cheese and it was the best.
Plus, my local PJ was apparently one of the few franchise locations that could turn out good pizza.

(182,585 posts)Pizza is my food snob thing. So we had this event and the organizer said "We're having pizza afterwards!" I was asked to pick it up. "Where?" I asked then they told me. I protested but I wasn't buying so....
First they didn't have a record of it being paid for the night before. Then, I got the "pizza" back to work, took one bite, and let out a "Oh my GOD!!!". It was beyond horrible. I was hungry so I downed one slice but couldn't finish the second. Spit it out in a trash can (discreetly) and I hate wasting food.

There were stories that he began to change employee hours to avoid paying for health care. Both he and his corporation just got a huge tax cut, so he can cry all he wants. B.S.

In addition, back during the contentious debates about the ACA (Obamacare), he mouthed off a lot saying that it would cause him to raise his pizza prices in order to comply with the new law.

(17,876 posts)Worse than even the frozen kind in most cases. And it seems all the industrial chains, except for maybe Pizza Hut and Little Caesar's, support right wing, nutter causes. Either way, I choose not to give them my cash, period. Virtually every town, even my small, nearby burg, has at least one local pizza joint that takes pride in their work. Whether home or on the rode, I choose to support the independents. Better pizza, and always interesting variants on the theme. You simply don't get that with the nationals. It's the same old cardboard crap from Seattle to Miami.

I for one love pizza, but because of the saturated fats don't get any delivered. Instead I find a good crust (thin), and I use Kraft's Fat Free Mozzarella and Cheddar cheeses to make my own. Usual toppings are mushrooms, chives, onions, olives cut in half, and basil. I cover the whole concoction with garlic powder and then top it off with fat free Pam Olive flavored spray before it goes into the oven.
And now I am hungry, and on my New Year's diet....

(343 posts)Have to agree here. I have eaten Papa Johns probably 10 times. Each time it was pretty bad. A few times, when he ran promotions, the pizza was free or half price. Even then, it was hardly worth the trouble to choke down. Pizza hut and Little Caesars are better, and they are both pretty bad too. Sometimes a cheap pizza, at maybe 7.99 is not worth it compared to a good one at 11.99. Plus Papa John is a jerk.
