The set up was about his demanding that both candidates stop avoiding the gun problem and discuss it. Then she slapped him down with the challenge.
He yammered on in the same vein he's been doing, then weaseled his way first uttering the dreaded "N" and "R" and "A" letters, making you think he would face the dragon, rhetorically erecting the straw man (paraphrasing here), "Some people think the NRA is going to control everything, I DON'T THINK SO."
So he managed to continue what he's been doing, = pretending to be a statesman discussing Serious Issues, while NOT bringing solutions himself.
He claims everybody else has a duty to discuss. Since HE's yammering about it, then HE's got a duty to bring some answers himself.

(1,299 posts)this is the same guy who almost got arrested by the ATF for sending his investigators into other states to make straw purchases and then had the video of supposed straw purchased altered to suit his purposed.
This is the same Blooming Idiot who went from Dem to Repub to Ind., I wouldn't believe a fucking word out of his pie hole.

(31,706 posts)I had to stop watching...getting tired of hearing that gasbag run his "third-way" mouth as if he was lecturing all of us from on high. This opportunist was rejected by both parties and only his money is what makes people respect him.

(12,804 posts)We need to have an adult discussion about guns and their proliferation.
It's way too easy for nuts to obtain guns.
And even the pros, like the police, can take it too far...

Honestly, do you think if this shooter had not been a NYC police officer, he would have been set free?

(12,804 posts)unitl we discuss the problem and the pitfalls of current legislation, there will be no solutions.

(70,683 posts)non-discussion-discussion, I should put my suggestions out there the way I'm gigging him for his NOT providing solutions.
#1 - It's been discussed to High-Olympus forever, like the MidEast, and it ain't that difficult. The parameters of reasonable conclusions are out there. Since I haven't participated in the guns/MidEast eternal discussions, I'm no expert, but common sense solutions should take all of a couple of days' seminar to arrive at.
#2 - My own off-the-top-of-my-head / if-I-were-king plan: No universal ban on weapons. Only access to enough firepower as needed for personal self-defense and sports. Only enough to fell the biggest sports target - a deer or a bear if a bear is attacking you or whatever is attacking you. No more than that. Driver's license type instruction and testing and registration required. Mental health history clearance. Criminal infractions involving weapons = lifetime ban. Add anything here that fits the general direction of this simplistic outline.
The point is there has been ENOUGH discussion. It ain't that hard.
O.K., my intent here is not to participate in gungeon discussions, only to offer my ideas since I'm demanding that BLOOMBERG offer his. End of *my* gun discussion.
