It's rather simple; good for a novice about the Kennedys and the 1960's, but nothing earth shattering.
However, I just keep thinking rhetorically , My God: How did America get this fucked up?

(115,587 posts)I don't know whether he's a good writer, though, since I haven't read any of them. I hope it sells well so he'll quit blabbing about it on his show.

(13,841 posts)If RFK hadn't been murdered he would have been President. He was much more popular than Humphrey and Humphrey barely lost to Nixon. MLK had begun to talk about a poor peoples march on DC, a march that included both black and white citizens. It was a turning point for our country that sent us down a very dark path.
The country was fucked long before RFK-in the 50's our CIA helped overthrow the elected leaders of Iran and Guatemala to name just two incidents from post WWII America. Satisfying the desires of huge multi-national corporations were/are first and foremost the job of our government.

"We're proud of our president. Americans love having a guy as president, a guy who has a little swagger, who's physical, who's not a complicated guy like Clinton or even like Dukakis or Mondale, all those guys, McGovern. They want a guy who's president. Women like a guy who's president. Check it out. The women like this war. I think we like having a hero as our president. It's simple. We're not like the Brits."
