I really wonder how much longer the GOP will only think of themselves and allow this guy to wander on. I wouldn't care if he were R, D or I ... he's unfit for office, in health and in mind.

(11,589 posts)Pence will give them everything they want as well. Why don't they just get the lunatic out of there?
I despise them all, but Trump is REALLY hurting the party. (HOPE THAT MADE SENSE)

(63,203 posts)So far, Trump has done literally nothing contrary to the establishment GOP agenda, and he's happy to play the role of look-at-me lunatic while he's doing it. The GOP benefits from everything he does while also enjoying plausible deniability after the fact ("we didn't decimate the economy; that was Trump" ).
If a miracle occurs and they remove him from office, they can claim the moral high ground for "acting in the best interests of the people and the nation." Even if they have to roll back some of his crazier bullshit, he'll have advanced their agenda more than anyone else since Fuckhead Reagan.
If Pence were in office, the GOP would be on the hook for everything he does. Trump has perfected the unhinged wildcard shtick, so the GOP can reap the benefits without technically soiling their own hands.
Raine1967
(11,589 posts)that sorta makes sense.
I do believe that they are really so tone deaf that they don't get that the time for plausible deniability died when Mueller was appointed.
Thank you for the response. Happy new year!

(14,530 posts)trump keeps the base riled up with red meat. Pence is boring and can't achieve that. While everyone is arguing over his latest tweet the repukes are doing some pretty f'ed up shit.
I wish they would ignore his tweets and report on what he and the republikkklans are doing.

(16,784 posts)Mike Pence and the Cabinet do not have the balls to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Trump from office. How much more proof do they need that Trump is so unfit for this most important job? Perhaps when much of the world has been decimated because Trump kept bragging as to the size of his "button".

(9,114 posts)If he's looking rougher than usual, I think IG Farben has a wide array of pharmaceuticals available to boost a nazi leader's stamina, and prop them up physically.
Side affects include rug munching, baldness, odd skin color, tourettes syndrome, violent mood swings, inability to focus mentally, enlarged gut and posterior, delusions of persecution and grandeur, orange hemarrhoids, etc.
Consult your doctor if you've become a walking erection that lasts longer than 4 decades. Unless your doctor is Harold or Jacob Bornstein.

(5,611 posts)and there was almost zero awareness of of it. I think a lot of people dont know even now that FTA affects the physical appearance of an individual, especially the persons facial features. When Trump was born it would have been at high levels of incidence nationally while the public would have been largely unaware of it. Trump was always extremely difficult as a child according to something his mother said. The lasting effects of FTA could certainly play into that and even play into the personality issues such as his narcissism and impulsiveness and and obsessive need for validation and adoration.
For example, his need to compare himself constantly to Pres. Obama and ridicule Hillary more than a year later or Elizabeth Warren by calling her a racist nickname, over and over, isnt normal politics. At this point presidents have settled in and are working on legislation and other matters not continuing to repeat the story of an election night victory and sending out tweets (or whatever technology) about former political rivals and one current senator in transparent attempts to humiliate them.
It is extremely obsessive, unhealthy, and outright weird especially for a president. Thats yet another thing the media has allowed Trump to do they breathlessly cover his latest nutcase tweet in which he claims he did something like/better than Pres. Obama (like his absurd false claim that his end-of-the-year approval numbers were like Obamas talk about delusional!).
I read about FTA recently as we found out an acquaintance of ours had been diagnosed with the condition as a newborn (his mother is still an alcoholic though she says she feels terrible about what happened to him). It DID affect his facial features in the ways described in medical sources (and on Wikipedia, which itself sources medical evidence). I had no idea that FTA caused such changes to a persons face. Your post is very interesting as you may very well be on to something.

(63,221 posts)The most serious characteristics of FASD are the invisible symptoms of neurological damage from prenatal exposure to alcohol. These symptoms persist into adulthood and include the following:
Attention deficits
Memory deficits
Hyperactivity
Difficulty with abstract concepts
Inability to manage money
Poor problem solving skills
Difficulty learning from consequences
Immature social behavior
Inappropriately friendly to strangers
Lack of control over emotions
Poor impulse control
Poor judgment
I think all those symptoms pretty much describe The Donald.

(10,828 posts)I've thought since the campaign that the man was on something. The fluctuations in mood and behavior, even speech just look like wild drug swings with uppers and downers. Could account for the obvious mental deterioration. Long-term drug use is not good for the noggin or anything requiring mental acuity. That being said, my father died of Alzheimer's. So did Trump's father. We could be watching both drug effects and true brain impairment.
He's unfit for Office. That much is very clear.
