Dozens arrested at a house party over less than an ounce of marijuana, police say

Ten of the nearly 100 people arrested during a 21st birthday party over the weekend spoke exclusively to Channel 2 Action News for the first time since the incident.

Cartersville police said officers responded to a call of apparent gunshots fired early Sunday morning and something led them to believe that party goers had drugs on them.

The ages of the people arrested range from 15 to 31-years -old.

On Monday, a parent of one of the party goers told Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes she is furious because police arrested everyone since no one would claim the drugs.

Lets hear it for the brilliant police..

.In my opinion, (I am not a lawyer)...all the cases will be thrown out. It was a power play by the cops to disrupt the party. Nothing more.

My post was like yours, just to inform a little more.......

Seems that in Georgia, the police, at least in that town, have little to do. What a waste of time, money, and effort. There just might be some payback to that town..something about "false arrest" and a number of lawsuits that will cost a whole lot of money for that town. (suburb I guess)

I really wish people would post locations for those local news stories from local media. It's a real annoyance for me.

This is a really shady power play police use often.

Cops entered the house without a warrant, seemingly no probable cause.

That Jeff Sessions is pushing for drug testing of anyone suspected of driving under influence for mj (which stays in system up to 3 mos) upon which a positive result would then trigger mandatory drug treatment...for marijuana. This would include those with a medical rx. Can you imagine someone with cancer, or another serious disease, or suffering from anxiety/depression and using mj for medical reasons being subjected to the stress of that??

Its outrageous.

I believe those people can sue for false arrest, and they should.

7. So, based on this logic, NYPD could arrest everyone in Trump Tower if drugs were found there.

Not throwing rocks at NYPD here. Just pointing out how insane the premise is.

at a house, how many drunk drivers were out on the roads in that community? To process that many arrests must have taken up much of the resources and manpower of the police department...and for what good?
