Remember When Steve Bannon Said There Was 'Nothing' to Russia Investigation?

by Lawrence Bonk | 1:23 pm, January 3rd, 2018

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has ruled the news cycle today, thanks to excerpts being released of a forthcoming tell-all on President Donald Trump’s transition and first year in office. These excerpts have Bannon eviscerating Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner for taking that now-infamous June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, calling the move “treasonous,” “unpatriotic” and, of course, “bad shit.”

The Breitbart boss also spoke candidly of the Russia investigation, led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and how it will eventually ensnare members of Trump’s inner circle, who remain oblivious of their forthcoming doom. “They’re sitting on a beach trying to stop a Category Five,” he said.

Bannon, however, sang a different tune about the Russia investigation back in September, when disgraced journalist Charlie Rose sat down with him for a lengthy interview on 60 Minutes, his first after being ousted from the White House.

“There’s nothing to the Russia investigation,” he said, appearing to become visibly agitated by the question. “It’s a waste of time.”

that i find myself wondering "Does he even believe the shit he says?" "Does he see the contradiction between his former comments and his current comments?" I don't know.

The connecting tissue between all of Bannons statements is his hatred of Democrats and Democratic politicians. Whatever he says that hurts them is as good as the truth; even if it is factually a lie, it is a lie in the service of a greater truth - that Liberals / Democrats are scum.

Then again maybe he's just an idiot.

threads and the constant infighting and sniping in the Trump administration demonstrate the vacuity and uselessness of the Republican philosophy.

No one in that administration cares about anyone other than him- or herself.

You can't live in such total egotism and callousness and be happy or succeed at anything other than making money.

You can't have a working marriage, a truly honest, healthy relationship with your children, your neighbors, your friends if you live in such totally self-centered egotism.

It appears to me that Donald Trump with his narcissism creates around himself the closest thing to Hell that exists.

No matter your point of view on the myths or non-myths of Christianity, you have to admit that the philosophy that preaches caring for others is a key to personal success.

We seem to have no one with that giving, caring, compassionate philosophy in the White House of today.

What a contrast with the Obama family and the Obama White House. There were a few in the Obama White House who were less than truly compassionate. But Obama, although he made mistakes, was, considering the amount of power he possessed and the sycophancy that he must have seen around him, a very kind, compassionate, reasoned man.

How I miss the Obama presidency. For all its and his faults, he was a warm, compassionate, good man.

Trump is not.

nurturing and through the caring, including and nurturing, freeing and where the philosophy of the Republicans, stated most clearly by Ayn Rand, of "winning," egotism, excessive pride, callous disregard for the needs of others, especially for the needs of the weak and poor, take us.

Republicanism, Reaganism, eventually lead to despair and the Hell of a society of constant strife, struggling to "win" rather than to build a good society.

Democrats are on the right path -- compassion and caring. The Trump administration proves it. The infighting in Trump's White House is pitiful.

Sourfaced Sarah Huckabee's press conference today should be interesting.

She is a good little girl, trying to present at least a competent if never a happy face to the world from the ugly chaos that is the Trump White House. She does not seem to realize that the ugly expression she broadcasts to the world tells the truth about what it is like to live in the White House today.

Sarah Huckabee's father is supposed to be or have been a Christian minister. As one whose father was also a Christian minister, I do not understand how Sarah Huckabee justifies working as a spokesperson for the Hell of egotism and narcissism that is the Trump White House. There is utterly nothing Christian about the Republican Party or its philosophy.

It has become worse and worse.

What amuses me the most is the way that Republicans complain about the "deep state." I'm not sure what they are referring to, but I think they mean all the secretive agencies that THEIR OWN PARTY created and sustains.

They are just not very honest, neither to others or to themselves.

diminish their impact.

And it is going to get much worse before it is over.

Good to know.

Also, apparently it would not have been treasonous if the meeting was surreptitious and conducted by intermediaries. Nothing wrong with that.

Talk about greasy.
