At Mar-a-Lago, before new yr: Heavily made-up Trump failed to recognize a succession of old friends"

........................

There was more: Everybody was painfully aware of the increasing pace of his repetitions. It used to be inside of 30 minutes he'd repeat, word-for-word and expression-for-expression, the same three stories — now it was within 10 minutes. Indeed, many of his tweets were the product of his repetitions — he just couldn't stop saying something.

...

Donald Trump's small staff of factotums, advisors and family began, on Jan. 20, 2017, an experience that none of them, by any right or logic, thought they would — or, in many cases, should — have, being part of a Trump presidency. Hoping for the best, with their personal futures as well as the country's future depending on it, my indelible impression of talking to them and observing them through much of the first year of his presidency, is that they all — 100 percent — came to believe he was incapable of functioning in his job.

At Mar-a-Lago, just before the new year, a heavily made-up Trump failed to recognize a succession of old friends.

1. Sounds exactly like my mother when dementia started taking over.

We used to joke about how much she repeated a story. But by the time it got to the point she was repeating things within the span of a few minutes she was already in a dementia facility being cared for round the clock. This fucker is in the White House.

My dad with advanced dementia asked him the same series of questions over and over and over again

He handled it with aplomb, but it gets to be tiring after awhile. Especially watching a football game, where the same thing happens.

5. Yeah, it's very exhausting. We learned to keep our visits short.

She doesn't remember you were there anyway, and you just go crazy after the 15th time you've answered the same question. So we just go long enough to be with her for a bit, bring her chocolate, show her a few photos, wheel her outside if the weather is good, then go.

My nephew started telling her different answers every time she asked questions. It was his way to keep himself amused and honestly it didn't do any harm since she retained none of it.

the foundation of incompetency to avoid paying for crimes.

The book is full of mis-information and the writer has said as much.

Donald Trump is not able to function as president of the U S, because Trump does not accept that the US is a Democratic Republic, wants to operate as an autocrat, use the office to build personal wealth, and to carry out an authoritarian agenda.

Donald Trump may have some cognitive deficits; he may have some health deficits-but he has not suddenly been plunged into the late stages of Alzheimer's disease.

He has been working his show as he always has and is succeeding, except for the fact that evidence of his criminality and wrong-doing is being systematically gathered.

He is engaged in a cover-up on the criminality and wrong doing but has been proceeding with his agenda. He is an actor.

If he does face criminal charges his aim will be to avoid jail and to preserve his fortune. His defense will likely that he did not know what he was doing because of his massive cognitive decline and that he is incompetent to stand trail.

Trump is the same conmen he has always been.

6. Nobody, to my knowledge, has said he's in the LATE stages of Alzheimer's.

Many of us have thought he's in the EARLY stages of Dementia for awhile. There's a big difference between early and late stage, as all of us who have lived through the progression with a loved one know.

He is, ultimately, a con man. Feigning a disease is just another tool.

As things look worse for him in Mueller's investigation, maybe we'll see him taking walks around Washington, DC in his pajamas, mumbling to himself.

over. Kept asking me if I remembered Betty (his 2nd wife who had died, who he had been married to for 30 years and who I was good friends with). Couldn't remember his grandkids names or ages, etc. Sometimes he could. He'd be fine for a couple of days and then he would just forget and start the questions and stories over.

our assessments of the Trump administration and Trump's relationship with his support. I've never worked for a spoiled child, but I can just imagine what hell that would be to face each morning. The only surprise in what I assume is a chapter, was the last paragraph about not recognizing his billionaire friends at Mar-a-Lago on NYE. I figured he had a special channel in his brain that kept them close and precious. God knows he doesn't waste time worrying about the rest of us.
