Since I believe 2018 is going to be the year of the WOMAN I borrowed this from some else. Credit is at the bottom...
I got an earful today about Hillary Clinton and how she just oughta fucking move aside and you know, just kinda fade away. Fade away into the night.
No, this is not gonna be about politics.
This is gonna be about how we humans have to stop putting women of a certain age out to pasture because they didn't get the big win, or the big deal, or the big job, or put that crack in that big fucking ceiling. None of us could withstand the crazy-ass bullshit and the crazy-ass cruelty that Hillary Clinton withstood - and withstands - every single day, day in and day out. We've bashed the living shit out of her; everything from her clothes to her hair to her emotions to her staying with Bill to her emails to her book coming out too soon too early too much too little; to her walks in the park to her speaking engagements to her frostiness to her pantsuits to her being a little too worn around the edges. Well, you know what, ALL GOOD WOMEN are worn around the edges, all good women keep getting up when they're knocked down, all good women wear grace and dignity - along with their heart - on their sleeve, all good women take a step to two or three back before they rise up and push forward and move forward and keep on.
No, this isn't gonna be about politics.
You didn't have to vote for her, and you don't have to like her, but for fucks sake, when ANY woman - and I mean ANY woman - keeps getting up, keeps standing up, keeps moving forward, keeps shaking off the awful nasty vile dreck that's constantly tossed and thrown on her; when any woman keeps showing up after being spit on and shit on and mistreated - you don't ask her to fade away or move aside, you ask her if you can walk alongside her, with her.
Never ask a woman to fade away into the night.
Ask her how she manages to keep on shining on her darkest days.

(2,166 posts)Why should an accomplished woman step aside and fade away when she has so much to offer? This is just ridiculous and shows that our country does not treat woman as equals. Should younger dems step up into leadership roles? Yes. Should we shove aside seasoned politicians? No. Not EVEN if they're female (insert massive eye-roll here).

(1,402 posts)Amy Ferris..........this is beautifully written and I so very much agree!! HRC is a wonderful example to all of us women. A lot of us have gone through our trials, have been knocked down and have survived and become better people because of it. The only ones that don't like HRC are older men that absolutely do not like strong women and other women that are jealous of her accomplishments. I know right now if she were President, we wouldn't be standing on the edge of war, bigotry, hatefulness and if she were President she would represent all of us and make us proud!! Thank you so much, Amy, for taking a stand for the women of this world!!

(5,106 posts)Since this was definitely where the Electoral College should have done the job it allegedly exists for (anyway, many people knew what Trump WAS, and he showed it frighteningly during the campaign), could we, at long last, GET RID OF IT?

(81,209 posts)Men (generally older men) are threatened by strong women like Hillary. Many women are threatened by her accomplishments because of some weird fear that they themselves are somehow automatically made less by comparison.
It's true. It's very real. It's a hard, sad fact. And I have the proverbial knife wounds in the back to prove it - thanks to both genders.

(10,828 posts)It was that very persistence that always amazed me about Hillary Clinton, her willingness to get up, shake it off and keep going. In fact she said as much about the whole idea of falling/failing: that it isn't the fall that's ever important because everyone stumbles and falls. The important thing is who and what you are after you stand back up.
That sort of woman does not get pushed into a corner or ignored or told to quiet down. Because she always shows up, then rolls up her sleeves and works her heart out, whatever the task.

And I will continue to love and admire her. When that piece of shit won the electoral college, that wasn't Hilary's loss, it was America's loss.
I, too, will love and revere her til the very end. She remains a role model and a world class inspiration to me, personally. AND, let's not forget, YET AGAIN she's voted the most admired woman in America.

But I just got yet another pile of bullshit for the simple act of being on a dating site.
I remember some article about online misogyny and a guy tried pretending to be a woman. After a FEW DAYS he was so shaken, he couldnt handle it anymore. He wouldnt have liked posing as an older woman, either. Fucking dickbrainrd, entitled, shallow men.
But dudes neednt worry...chances are good theyll find someone to give them attention, whatever their age.

(33,512 posts)As the campaign proceeded, and as I looked more closely at her, I realized she was a great woman, a wise and compassionate leader.
The propaganda directed against her by people of far lesser intellect, inferior ethics, and smaller accomplishments have only burnished her further.
As a nation, we are missing a woman who would have given credit to the Presidency, as opposed to a senile corrupt venal and uneducated man who has stained the office irrevocably with incompetence, stupidity and criminality.

(6,042 posts)January 2017 was the end of the first phase of our Democratic Republic. In that phase we had 44 presidents-Washington through Obama- and we were the oldest continuous Democratic Republic on the planet. We also harbored deep divisions and prejudices which allowed our form of government to be subverted by a foreign power.
On Inauguration Day 2017 we became a defeated nation and right now we are still trying to figure out what happened and how to become a free country again-how to right the sunken ship of state.
If we can't raise up the sunken ship, it's going to lay there on the ocean floor like the old Titanic.
If we do raise it up, it will still not be the same Democratic Republic it was in Phase I. It will be at the most, a new phase-Phase II of the United States of America-yet it can be better than Phase I.
The worst thing we can do is write a false narrative of this time, of our defeat, of this illegitimate presidency, and then teach that false narrative to our children as our history and let this president 45 be regarded as just one more link in an unbroken chain.
Phase II needs to be built on fact not illusion, and not on the alternative facts of the subverters.
