So relevant to what we as Americans are experiencing here..
Both countries are counting on support of the young... Difference? The Young of Age in Iran have been backed against the wall by the old Regime Religious Clerics (govt)...They have reached the breaking point...They are smart, intelligent, industrious and there is absolutely in their minds no hope for the future. Thus they have taken to the streets and have put themselves in the line of extreme danger!

We have not reached that point yet.. however with the Trump Insanity Movement.. We are on that doorstep.

Finally I just wonder if in the near future some of us older ones.. might have to make a decision as to wether or not we want to sit on our couches and express our anger on the internet...I'm beginning to way options.

I hate Trump and the republicans as much as anyone here. But to compare our situation to the plight of the people of Iran, especially women, is just insulting.

People are killed there for demonstrating. Killed or jailed for blog posts. Killed or Jailed for saying the wrong thing on social media.

Women are, well, you know.

We lost the election. Our opponents are doing exactly what they were voted in to do. We are facing a politically ruthless enemy who will do what it takes to win at the ballot box.

The people of Iran are facing a ruthless enemy who will shoot them dead if the complain too loudly.

Let's keep things in perspective.

A week after trump was sworn in, a million or so citizens, mainly women marched in Washington as an expression of defiance.

They were left alone.

Not long after the Iranian revolution women became concerned that their rights were going to be diminished. So the marched. They were set upon and many killed.

Trump is demonstrably not worse than the clerics. Would he like to be? Maybe.

To compare we liberals to the suffering of the Iranian people is an example of self pity that is unworthy of DU.

And is so over the top it actually hurts our cause.

6. You said if drumpf goes unchecked

Robert mueller would have been put to death in Iran if he tried to investigate the supreme leader. If drumpf was left to his own devices I have no doubt he would at least jail mueller, but he can't because our system here keeps him in check to that extent.

Other poster is right. Our situation is dire and our way of life at risk, but we are nowhere near as bad off as the citizens of Iran. That being said drumpf and the Iranian rulers are just different levels of corruption and both need to go.
