He was brought in because apparently Steve trusted him & perhaps Ailes and Murdoch trusted him too. It's still a mistake to bring a journalist in to a White House with unfettered access. It appears business was being done and/or the President was being trashed in front of a journalist writing a book! Then it seems that people from the White House apparently did interviews with him, and it seems
in them they leaked and/or trashed Trump. This is a journalist writing a book about the White House. He's a mainstream media journalist with a controversial record per his Wiki page - why was he trusted? This was a big mistake. I think Bannon played a huge roll in this. If this article is true and tapes come out, the media will have a field day.

The Bannonites war with everyone and everything, including President Trump, is self defeating and a disaster.

You know what's sad in all this, Bannon, out of all the people Trump brought in, was the most dedicated to the movement and keeping the campaign promises that Trump ran on platform wise. I know he still believes in that platform. A mistake Trump made was letting too many establishment folks in the door. We needed more folks who were #MAGA folks. Trump and Bannon should have been natural allies working together.

Bannon wants candidates that will help Trump. Obviously Alabama ended in disaster, but we don't even know if those were true allegations, and I think he would have won without them. Strange wasn't a bad guy in my opinion, though, and he should have been left alone. Bannon is right in that regard to want Trump agenda supporting candidates. This book and this fracture doesn't help the movement at all and will make it harder for that goal to be achieved.

It's sad. I think perhaps Bannon's ego took over, and it did him no good.

Is taping without consent illegal in DC? In Canada you can secretly record as long as you are part of the conversation, but you can’t leave use a hidden mic and leave the room. I think in Massachusetts you need two-party consent.

I’m a bit perplexed as to why anybody in a powerful position would talk to anybody with press credentials. It’s clearly not a very intelligent thing to do... That being said, if he did indeed tape the conversations, then he obviously informed people they were being taped. Otherwise he would be breaking the law. So release the tapes and prove the conversations were real. Otherwise, it’s just here say.
