Deadmau5 calls Playboy Model Tricia Evans "piece of shit" for insensitive Colorado shooting "Joke"

Deadmau5 was RIGHT.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/23/deadmau5-tricia-evans-colorado-shooting-joke_n_1694500.html

Jokes about the Colorado shooting are not only "too soon," they are the furthest thing from "humor," according to Canadian producer Deadmau5 -- formally known as Joel Zimmerman. So when Playboy model Tricia Evans tweeted about "The Dark Knight Rises" being a movie "to die for" Deadmau5 quickly blasted the centerfold.

Last Friday evening, not 24 hours after the Aurora, Colo., shooting occurred at the Century 16 theater where 12 moviegoers were killed, Evans tweeted:

I heard the new Batman movie is really "to die for"! Too soon?
— Tricia Evans (@HollywoodTricia) July 20, 2012

Deadmau5, who previously followed Evans on Twitter, responded:

good to know. @HollywoodTricia i seriously had no idea how big of a piece of shit you are. unfollowed.

He's younger than me so I'd left town before he grew up, but I likely knew his parents.

You're not going to see any boob photos on twitter. All you'll get is mediocre nonsense from a 21 year old nitwit who is probably not an intellectual heavyweight.

Apparently, bad jokes and grieving are not an uncommon combination.

Most funerals in my extended family are pppered with bad jokes, in addition to the tears.

I wouldn't read too much into the original tweet, deadmau5's outrage nothwithstanding.

Had Tricia Evans reflected before posting, she'd have realized it takes another element to make it work: it should be funny as well, or at the least make a poignant observation. Her "tweet" is more on level with elephants in the refrigerator and lame knock-knock jokes, the stuff third graders share on the playground.

later that night or the next night.

When other comedians were canceling their shows, he went out on stage and, after pausing silently in front of the mic for a long pause, mused (depending on which source you use):

"Man, is Vaughn Meader fucked!"
"Poor Vaughn Meader!"
"Vaughn Meader is screwed."

During Kennedy's brief tenure in office, Vaughn Meader was a comedian who had made a fortune with his best-selling record (The First Family) impersonating/satirizing JFK and the Kennedy family.

Apparently, the audience roared with laughter.

which seems to better fit Lenny's style.

Lenny also castigated the press in the weeks after the assassination for playing up how Mrs. Kennedy had reached back to help the Secret Service agent get on the car, when the reality as Lenny saw it was that the agent had climbed up in order to push her back into the car because she was "hauling ass to save her ass."

"What point of reference does she have for her behavior?" Lenny asked. (And I'm paraphrasing here, as I don't want to dig through the books to find the recorded quotes.)

"But what's her point of reference?" he asked. "'Oh yes, I heard the gunfire and I reached back to help the Agent onto the car.' And that's bullshit! She hauled ass to save her own ass, same as anyone would do. But that's not the way the press presented it. No, they painted her as the good good Mrs Kennedy who wanted only to help and who stayed in the face of such horror. And the truth is, people don't stay. But the press presented the fiction that she did, so now, if your daughter's husband gets killed and she hauls ass to save her ass, she'll be made to feel shitty and low because she didn't stay like that good good Mrs Kennedy. And fuck it, man! The people don't stay!"

For this comment, he was arrested in Chicago. Oh, they made it out it was for obscenity and being a 'sick comic,' but Lenny knew better. He'd told the truth, and as those who do so in America learn all too soon, the truth is rarely valued here.

This was why he knew he wasn't a comedian. And as he would tragically admit in the year before his death, he wasn't always funny because he wasn't a comedian. He was just Lenny Bruce.
