(1,714 posts)I worked at a bank when the market tanked in 2008--2009. The DOW went down to about 6400. Our investment officer begged her customers not to take their $$$ out. A lot of them did. Dh has a strong stomach, and left ours in. We recovered, those who took their $$$ out lost it.
Yes, there will be a correction, but if you are in it for the long haul you will be okay.

The yuan is the currency of China.
The yuan (/juːˈɑːn, -æn/; sign: ¥; Chinese: 元; pinyin: yuán; [ɥæ̌n] (About this sound listen)) is the base unit of a number of former and present-day Chinese currencies, and usually refers to the primary unit of account of the renminbi, the currency of the People's Republic of China.[1] It is also used as a synonym of that currency, especially in international contexts the ISO 4217 standard code for renminbi is CNY, an abbreviation of "Chinese yuan". (A similar case is the use of the terms sterling to designate British currency and pound for the unit of account.)

(21,859 posts)Markets etc. don't really seem to be reacting very much. You would think w/ recent tax law enacted that now that firms can bring back funds into US now w/o negative tax consequences would increase the demand for dollars (so businesses can exchange current non-US currencies into US dollars and bring home to US)...instead, dollar is going down, like you mentioned...thanks for bringing up!

(21,859 posts)Thanks for remembering and bringing to our attention! This is a good word to describe this behavior...economy was roaring along during Obama's presidency, still is, due to all good foundation put in place then, especially after horrible meltdown in 2008. With all of tRUMP's misdeeds, something (or a multitude of things) is/are bound to happen, negative-wise...
High housing costs /wage costs not keeping up w/ rising costs all across the board, and only a few sharing the wealth/rising interest rates/stagnate inflation rates (economists can't figure out why, from what I've read)...among just few items
