Special relationship in doubt if Trump doesnt get royal wedding invite, says Wolff

‘Fire and fury’ author says US president wants to outshine the Queen — and didn’t know what Brexit was.

By PAUL DALLISON 1/7/18, 11:05 AM CET

A post-Brexit trade deal between the U.K. and U.S. could be in danger if Donald Trump doesn’t get invited to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to the author of a controversial new book about the U.S. president.

Michael Wolff told the Mail on Sunday that Trump would resent any snub and the so-called special relationship could be damaged unless he “gets what he wants.”

Trump “doesn’t like being snubbed and wants to be the center of attention all the time,” Wolff said. “Trump’s foreign policy doctrine is simple: You Brits suck up to him and enlist in whatever geopolitical fantasy he has going, he’ll give you what you want — though only if it doesn’t hurt him. It is not so much vengeance, rather ‘you flatter me and I’ll flatter you.'”

“If the Brits give him what he wants he will value the Brits,” Wolff said.

Trump is thought unlikely to be invited to the royal wedding because Prince Harry is friends with Barack Obama.

If Wolff is okay with a puppy piddling on his carpet, then open the door. Nobody else is compelled to let that incontinent canine in.

This is a private wedding, not a state wedding, so they can invite whomever they want. Or not invite.

Of my darkest grind, the prince bows to his powers that are and this POS lotus will end up hogging the spotlight. If he does get an invite I would hope President Obama and he and THE FIRST LADY kindly decline rather than be around such ameriKKKan trash as the people in the WH now. Yet I know President Obama and Michelle have way too much integrity and class to do such to a friend.

The wddding is in no way an official State event.

The Queen’s youngest son, The Prince Edward, now styled as HRH The Earl of Wessex, was married in the same chapel (St. George’s Chapel) to his commoner bride, Sophie Rhys-Jones, now styled as HRH The Countess of Wessex. It was an exclusively family event. No photos or videos of the ceremony inside the chapel were released to the public.

The British royal family is paying for the wedding and will make all decisions as to who is invited.

I hope that the Obamas and the Trudeaus are invited! 😁

I realize that's the conventional wisdom around this place but you don't become a billionaire and get elected President of the United States by being a complete dipshit.

Trump isn't a moron. He just plays one on TV, and thinking he is is why we're sitting here scratching our heads and he's sitting in the White House presiding over the country.

Yes, Donald Trump knew what Brexit was. I'm sure at some point Nigel Farage briefed him on it.

I remain very skeptical of many of the claims in Wolff's book. An entertaining read, sure, but I think it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Like so much involved with fluffing up Donald Trump.

We don't really know how much money he really has, since he won't release his tax returns.

And as far as his being a moron: As the saying goes, stupid is as stupid does.

Although I would argue that it's happened before, at the very least, there is a first time for everything.

You'd be amazed what you could accomplish in YOUR life with a global corporate-owned media in your court 24/7 and a massive, massive, MASSIVE amount of other people's cash at your disposal.

Somehow I don't see the Republican Congress going along with any desire of his to punish the UK. That means less money in their donors' pockets. I just don't see it.

I can't think of a worst guest to invite to their wedding, outside of a wildly anti-monarchial person.
