Hell, I have more experience than she does; at least I've worked for a couple of government agencies, and I, too, would surround myself with good people. I just don't have money, charisma or a talk show. I am not qualified to be president and neither is Oprah. The bar has been lowered so far because of Trump that we seem to be willing to settle for anybody who is sane and can deliver a good speech, and that's ridiculous.

I don't trust inexperienced celebrities to be President. Let her continue to do good deeds where she is. If a qualified Democrat wants to use her abilities in an official capacity, that would be fine. But she should not hold the highest office in the land and the most powerful job in the world.

Of course she would be better than 45. But that is not giving her much credit. Nearly anyone would be better.

Just like hoping the person at the front of the airplane you're traveling on has experience as a pilot, and the person who's about to operate on you has experience as a surgeon, and the person who's about to defend you in court has experience as a lawyer. The presidency is too important to be turned over to a charismatic amateur with no experience in government, even a nice liberal amateur. I want a professional as president as much as I want a professional pilot, doctor or lawyer. Isn't the job at least that important?

with exactly zero experience in government or politics. The big difference between her and Obama - and it's a very, very big difference - is that Obama got a law degree, taught constitutional law, got elected to the Illinois senate and then the U.S. Senate. By the time he was elected president he knew very well how the government works. Brava to Oprah for her good works but I would absolutely not support her candidacy.

I disagree with most here in that Oprah would make a fantastic candidate !! She has a built in base, is very smart and is blessedly normal. She IS actually rich and could fund her own campaign (and not actually just lend it money). She is smart enough to surround herself with competent people and would realize that she would have lots to learn - and then get out of bed for more than a few hours and actually do the friggin job! I would pit her against Drumpf any time!!

She could save us all. I have been waiting and hoping she would run !!

Please , Oprah - save us !!!! RUN for office.

As an aside , wouldn't it be delightful to see dumbling's face to learn he'd be running against a black woman who's more famous and rich than him?!?! That would make it worthwhile all on it's own !!

The notion that we don't need another billionaire celebrity seems to imply that she is like tRump, which she isn't. She is a self-made billionaire. She is empathetic, intelligent and charitable. She retains a connection to people that are less fortunate than her and feels the obligation that to those whom much is given, much is required.

I believe Dem primary voters are more intelligent and do more research than R primary voters. If her primary campaign was full of stunts, filled her campaign with sycophants and amateurs, and demonstrated a lack of knowledge when it came to foreign, domestic and economic policy during the debates, I would expect that she wouldn't be catapulted to the front like the deplorables did with tRump.

Large swaths of people don't care about policy, they only care about personality. I used to think this only applied to GOP voters, but alas, the power of celebrity applies to us too.

I fully expect a hugely charismatic celebrity with no experience in governing to run in 2020 or 2024 and hijack our party.
