Oprah may well be our best bet . . . . .

. . . . . as a celebrity campaign surrogate.

But as a potential president?

Come ON people. She's a celebrity. A business woman. A billionaire. But NOT qualified to be president. Such talk is silly. Yes, for many, it seems she gave a great speech at The Golden Globes. Hooray. Well done. But that speech, coupled with zero Political experience, with even less National Security experience, with virtually no foreign POLICY experience, with little insider understanding of how the government, the wheels of power, actually work, even as smart as she might be, leaves us . . . . where, exactly?

She can best serve, in my humble opinion, as a surrogate for whatever QUALIFIED candidate we stand up for 2020.

If she REALLY wants to get involved in politics, maybe she can start by working to give the House and Senate back to the DEMOCRATS by helping to ELECT DEMOCRATS.

Wouldn't that be nice?

...she should run for, oh, precinct committee person FIRST. Then she should run for mayor of the town in which she resides. She needs to work her way up the political ladder and learn the ropes of an entirely different system. Because she has billions doesn't imbue her with knowledge she never acquired.

I love Oprah. She has overcome the odds to achieve a lifetime of success, and she fights for progressive causes. She is also very smart.

But please, no more celebrities, billionaire businesspersons, or others with no political experience!

Our country is going to turn into a massive hellhole by the time Donnie Dotard is through destroying it. We need someone with experience in government to get the ship turned around, and fast. I can definitely see a role for Oprah in a new Democratic administration, senior advisor or a cabinet position .... but please no more TV celebrities for President!

BTW, the RWNJ's can't stand her. Why that is, who knows, since for years, she has supported and created programs that empower women to rise up and support themselves.

No more celebrities!

I like Oprah. I admire what she's accomplished as an entertainer and businesswoman. But she is completely unqualified for the arduous task of POTUS, made even more monumental by the damage the Trumpster and his Vichy collaborators have done and continue to do. This nonsense that experience and knowledge of governing is no big deal is just that . . . utter nonsense, a Sarah Palin take on the world. We need someone who knows Washington, how it works and how the levers of power can be applied effectively. We need someone with a working knowledge of foreign policy and national security as well as the slew of domestic and international problems the Trumpster has ignored and/or made worse.

And yes, we need someone with a vision, someone who can inspire. But giving a good speech is not the endgame. Not by a long shot.

So please. Let's concentrate on the 2018 mid-terms, and then spend our energy supporting a qualified and experienced Democrat to run in 2020. If Oprah is truly interested in a political life, then by all means she should run for a local, state or even a Congressional district.

But I mean, really--haven't we learned anything after Trump?

.....if she loses the Democratic primary, she has the money and the ego to form a new party: The Oprah Party.

And that party would pull a bunch of votes from the Dem candidate. Jill Stein on steroids.

Hopefully, she'll just decide to support an experienced politician and leader, and not try for the nomination.

There's a lot of people screaming about Oprah and the falling sky.

She gave a magnificent speech that have people talking, and few even speculating, but that's about it.

In fact, those talking the most about her are complaining she's being talked about.

God, I love irony.
