I am astounded by all the frightened chicken littles who are terrified by supposed unnamed ambitions by one very smart black woman who gave such a speech last night.

I just hope people take the time to hear it instead of concentrating on the million hot takes on whether or not she should run for office.

Here it is:

...many of these folks arguing against Oprah in politics couldn't tell you what she actually said in her speech, much less tell you who she really is.

I've heard it, and it was indeed a remarkable and stirring speech, brilliantly constructed and well-delivered.

I found it especially poignant when she noted the symmetry between her own experience of watching "from the cheap seats" as Poitier received his award, compared to a little girl today watching as Winfrey receives hers.

I don't fault her for the internet's speculations re: her supposed presidential ambitions.

I met Poitier in a supermarket in Nassau decades ago - we just ended up in the same aisle. I just smiled and laughed - then I asked him to sign an autograph for a close friend who married a man who looked just like him. I mean she adored Poitier. He signed it with her name. I never forgot that.

I am not a genius but I did not get the idea that she was thinking of running for President.

I just don't understand how a female is inherently more qualified for political office any more than a male is inherently qualified for political office.

It was a very moving speech. She doesn't deserve the negativity.

I'm already sick of 2020 speculation.
