I've been profoundly supportive of Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. But the last time I got a kind of electric charge was when John Edwards appeared on the scene. Well, we know what happened there. But this is one of the things that might be a positive if Winfrey should run and bring her charisma to the table. There can't be too many secrets left.

(23,313 posts)She's well read, educated, intellectually curious, a good listener, she surrounds herself with good people for the most part (Dr. Phil, Joel Osteen were big mistakes IMO but I've learned not to throw stones if you know what I mean), she empowers women and people of color, successful business person, philanthropic etc etc etc. We could do worse for a candidate, I suppose. But seriously, do we have no one else on the left side of the aisle who has charisma? I absolutely agree that charisma is key - most us seem to recognize that. But Oprah? No...please...she's great at a lot of things but I'd like to think we could get behind someone else with the smarts and personality to spare as our candidate. If we don't have anyone but Oprah, that's a bit of a worry. And, like I said, I'm a fan so don't beat me up on that for pete's sake!
