Hogan Gidley is a Republican communications advisor. As of October 2017, he was the deputy press secretary in the presidential administration of Donald Trump (R). Gidley previously worked as a consultant for the firm Brabender Cox.

During the 2016 election cycle, Gidley was the spokesperson for Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign, having transitioned from his role as an advisor when Alice Stewart left the campaign in December 2015.[1][2] In the 2012 election cycle, Gidley worked as Rick Santorum's communications director.[3] Gidley is the former executive director of Huck PAC, Huckabee's leadership PAC, a former communications director for Elizabeth Dole's (R-N.C.) 2008 campaign, and the former executive director of the Republican Party of South Carolina.[4]

Career
Gidley began his career in politics when Mike Huckabee was the governor of Arkansas. Gidley was then a reporter in Little Rock who approached Huckabee and pitched himself as a communications advisor.[5] Gidley credits his time as a reporter for his approach to the press as a campaign messenger: "One of my weaknesses is that I sometimes side with the reporters over my candidates, because I sometimes know what they're going through."[5]

After working with Huckabee's gubernatorial staff in a variety of roles from 2000 to 2004, Gidley worked as a campaign advisor for South Carolina Governor David Beasley.[6] From 2006 to 2007, Gidley was executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party.[7]
