I'm no prosecutor nor an expert lawyer, but one thing that has been confirmed many times during this process by most, if not all, of the talking head prosecutors they've interviewed along the way:
In short, the idea that they are setting up an interview with Trump might indicate that Mueller has the goods he needs. Maybe, just maybe he has enough to indict Trump, and the "interview" is jus to give him the heads up that the hammer is coming down. The end of this might be closer than we all thought.
Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but the release of the Simpson/Fusion testimony is a really big thing. The idea that the FBI had an active mole in the Trump organization also makes sense, and perhaps explains why they wouldn't discuss the Trump investigation before the election, in order to protect their asset.
Perhaps big things are in the offing.

(2,404 posts)here either, but I've been thinking on this since yesterday.
If Mueller is ready to interview OrangeFuhrer, all of the other lesser ducks are in a row. One thing we know for sure, Mueller already has the answers to the questions that will be posed to the poser.

(1,474 posts)I believe Mueller would wait to interview him. But Mueller knows trump is an idiot who cannot remember the lies he has told. trump being interviewed by Mueller would be a disaster for trump. Also, trump and his lawyers will use any means they can to avoid the interview. I believe there is much more discovery to be made. The GOP is as complicit as trump.
And whatever I think, I KNOW Mueller is much smarter and more formidable than I could be.

(44,999 posts)There seem to be a lot of moments where Team Mueller is squeezing - hoping for an over-reaction. That may be reading to much into it - but it certainly seems possible.
