Here in NY 1, we have Lee Zeldin who won by a hair with the last gasps of the local Tea Party four years ago, and has been difficult to get rid of since.

He's not stupid, and has been outspoken on local issues like agriculture, the conditions of Long Island Sound and Peconic Bay, Plum Island and a few other things we all tend to agree upon out here. His votes are often another story, however, and when push comes to shove, he's still just another wingnut fanboy.

NY 1 comprises 6 towns and close to 80 communities (almost all of Suffolk County) and each town has its own Democratic committee, which can make for a mess. Last year we had 2 people in the primary, each with rabid supporters from their home towns, and by the time we got to November the primary winner was already pretty beat up. We lost.

This year we have 6, so far, and I have no idea if that's a good or bad thing. We start gathering signatures in March, but the fun has already started.
