(4,407 posts)Is he cooperating like going to talk to investigators, or is he cooperating as an informant?

(4,407 posts)There would be an ethical issue if one of them had agreed to cooperate, and an attorney is not going to take on a new client if one is already cooperating.
Only if all three came to the attorney at once and said they wanted to cooperate together could this happen. Highly unlikely.

(14,603 posts)Muehler has his notebooks. He's had them for months.
So presumably there is information in those notebooks that could implicate bannon.
Further evidence that having the same lawyer couldn't happen unless all were cooperating.
HopeAgain
(4,407 posts)That is not the same as agreeing to testify against other potential defendants as we know Papadopoulis has done.
getagrip_already
(14,603 posts)Those were his personal notes, not official gov't documents. He either handed them over voluntarily or muehler would have had to subpoena them and that would be public.
You don't hand over potentially self incriminating documents without some deal........

(14,603 posts)It's far more likely they were provided voluntarily. Priebus has no reason to go down with that ship by forcing a subpoena.
He very likely just handed them over and is cooperating.
tableturner
(1,679 posts)In other words, why make Mueller subpoena documents he knows Mueller has the right to subpoena, thereby needlessly poisoning the relationship? He could voluntarily do that without having been flipped. Though both scenarios often coincide, the first scenario can occur even when the second one hasn't.

Nothing really incriminating has been brought to light that stands out to me like Flynn, Manafort, even Jr. Kushner, etc.

(11,884 posts)He'd turn on anyone to save himself. And he's a man with lots of information, so destroying Donald is just another go to any length's to damage him, now that Trump damaged him so much. He's going to make trump pay too by helping expose him. No surprise if its true.

(1,648 posts)For what Trump and his supporters did to exile him from his job and destroy him.
And he paints himself as the unsuspecting good guy who got caught up in the mess the Trumps already got into.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Scorched earth.

(5,801 posts)and scrofulous steve was at the nexus of the mercers and dump. cambridge analytica is a suspect in helping putin microtarget dumbass 'Muricans with russian propaganda.
So, is steve gonna bring down the mercers, too? Just after bekah "Cruella de Vil" publicly kicked him to the curb?

(5,398 posts)That's great!
Interestingly, if you Google "scrofulous ulcer," bannon's picture comes up. Really. You have to scroll down a bit, but it's there. I was hoping to post a nasty scrofula pic, but I guess we all know what bannon looks like...

(5,801 posts)what the idiots who thought dump was the second coming and "someone who can't be bought because he has his own money" would say if they knew he actually was brought to them courtesy of a couple of rich loons (mercer pere et bekah "cruella de vil" fille) who bought the election after rigging it with some help from their bud vlad and the puke co-conspirators.
And, what the crackpot mercers' agenda actually is. Hint, morans: it isn't about helping you, that's for sure.

(10,266 posts)If Bannons flipped, it means he gave them Cambridge Analytica and they're gonna look at every ping and packet they can...and while money laundering and obstruction are important, when it comes to electioneering and whatnot, this would be the Ballgame.

(959 posts)Bannon despises the daughter and son in law, and thinks Trump is useful only as far as he tows Bannon's line. Since that ship has sailed, Trump and his offspring are no longer useful

(6,484 posts)I think you meant "toes" Bannon's line, but "towing Bannon's line" conjures up "interesting" images.

(22,651 posts)He has an old history, decades ago when he was young exploiting game currency, foreign workers- internationally. Think I remember him in some kind of serious trouble with authorities back then.
Now as an old man media/whoring for the RW- he managed to attach himself to trump & campaign fairly easy. Republican leaders were always quiet about Bannon hanging around trump, not a peep from them. Wonder if R leadership knows Bannon's a mole and that's why they never complained about him ever.

(52,107 posts)my first reaction was that donnie not only getting rid of bannon but also getting the whole right-wing machine to disavow him was really stupid because then bannon would have no reason not to run to mueller and tell all.
but then i thought, this would have been obvious even to donnie, and while he's really stupid on things like facts and policy, he's not this stupid when it comes to self-preservation.
he is, however, vindictive enough to want to destroy someone who had turned on him.
but merely saying something bad about him to a reporter or an author isn't enough to earn this reaction. he's had people call him a f*cking moron before. he makes them apologize and praise him and demonstrate loyalty and that's that.
but what if bannon *had already* turned on donnie?
now i'm thinking that bannon, in fact, was already cooperating with mueller *before* all this came out, and what the book did was flush out that bannon was the mole. he was the guy on the inside that was giving mueller his intel.
maybe he's deep throat.
*that* would cause donnie to not only fire him but also to get him blacklisted by the entire right-wing machine.
hmmmmm.....

So maybe someone in the WH knows what you posit is true.

(3,483 posts)The whole thing with Trump and Bannon is straight out of the professional wrestling handbook (and we know Trump has participated in pro wrestling theatrics), one of the oldest plots ever, where the manager takes his wrestler all the way to the top, then the wrestler turns on him and he's banished, then they fight, then they get back together, then any number of plot twists occur.
This is all designed to keep both of their nincompoop bases busy with something they can understand. Because nothing is more real to those losers than fake wrestling and fake news.
It's all a distraction, and a very handy one, that they can re-ignite instantly anytime, anywhere, that it's convenient for them.
