The people of this country are too tolerant.

There’s no other country in the world where they’d allow it... After all we built up this country and then we allow a lot of foreigners, the scum of Europe, the offscourings of Polish ghettos to come and run it for us.

– John Dos Passos, early 20th century novelist, and contributor to the National Review

Senator Ira Hersey of Maine lamented, “We have thrown open wide our gates and through them have come other alien races, of alien blood, from Asia and southern Europe … with their strange and pagan rites, their babble of tongues.”

The Con is just another two bit racist in the long line American racism. But there are other words and deeds by Americans as well. Words so eloquent and heartfelt against the Cons tribalism. And to all true Americans they are the sound of our real spirit. Since I started with Dos Passos let me end with a novelist :
“The Great White Joker in the Sky dooms us all to stupidity or poverty from birth. no two things on earth are equal or have an equal chance, not a leaf nor a tree. There's many a man worse than me, and some better, but I don't think race or country matters a damn. I'll be treated as I deserve, not as my father deserved. What matters is justice. 'Tis why I'm here.” The Killer Angels (made into the movie Gettysburg) by Michael Shaara.
