I am in my 30s, so I had never lived under such an oppressive, racist and dangerous presidency. Not even W or Reagan, in my view. I feel we are witnessing something deeply horrible and transformative, as Trump has openly declared people of color the undesirable other. He is going after all of us hard, starting with the most vulnerable- undocumented and temporarily legal migrants of color. These are millions of colored folks this bastard is about to kick out. He is also going after LEGAL colored immigrants (my dad is a permanent resident from the Dominican Republic). Who says millions of legal immigrants will not wind up fucked up by the system because of some racist, shitty scheme? Where does it end? It doesn't. As long as they have power, the white nationalist garbage that rules us will not stop until they start putting Americans of color in "our place".
This shit is bad and it's getting to me. I had to vent.

Albeit, the idea of Trump in his pajamas on a couch red-eye flight to Moscow is rather appealing tonight.

(58,785 posts)It took a lot of seditious behaviors maximizing weaknesses of the system and electorate to elevate this depraved buffoon to the presidency. As it is, there's a lot more buyers' remorse out there than is admitted.
Frankly, I worry far more about congress and state governments. No buyers' remorse there at all. Only demands for return on investment.

(6,262 posts)The tiny silver lining might be that his bald-faced racism is revealing to all that anyone who votes for ANYONE (psst Ryan) who goes along, even while trying to hedge, is as racist as he is -- and has always been.
Up to the voters. Once again, reveal, resist, and VOTE

(17,002 posts)I refuse to let him or his minions win. They truly are deplorables. They don't care about anything beyond their own little bubble. I'm rolling up on 60. Raised in the south. I've seen this shit before. Apparently we didn't kill the dragon, just wounded it. Time to slay the bastard this time.

Oh and don't forget the demographics are changing in this country...period. They can't do a thing about it. Why do you think they are in such a tizzy..they are even more frightened then us! We gonna be aiiiiiigght.

(14,274 posts)In the past week he's been unmasked as crazy, senile, and racist. Traitorous acts are being exposed. The veneer is peeling off Trump and the Republican party. Yes, it is painful to see but most of us here sensed that it was this bad long before the rest of the country did.
They are becoming more exposed by the hour, it seems. They are not being normalized. They are hastening their own departures. Take heart and know better days are coming.

It's a guttural thing, it makes personally ill. We wouldn't allow our children to behave like this. These old white guys just believe their own bs, and that is their personal flaw.

(578 posts)A little bit about me my parents are from India but I was born in this country. Lucky for me my parents were both naturalize US citizens when I was born. I lived in Boston up until I was 11 and then moved to NC. In both case growing up was difficult because I was the only Indian kid in school and in my white neighborhood. I would always hear the cruel racist insults such as "Go back to India. Go back to where you came from." I would get into a lot of fist fights with racist kids. Some fights I won and some I lost. I remember trying to convince some of these racist kids that I wasn't a bad person but they weren't having it. They were pretty much determined to be racist bigots forever. This is why I don't believe Trump supporters are worth reasoning with. Keep in mind I put up with all this crap for the first 18 years of my life.
Now you may think it got better once I went to college but it didn't get better immediately. I was 18 when 9/11 happened which was terrible for me because I'm a brown person. They were thousands of Indians across the country who were dealing with being mistaken for Muslims and were victims of hate crime. My birth religion is Sikhism but I'm agnostic and I don't wear a turban. The first year during 9/11 I dealt with random people trying to start fights with me on the streets including students. This one man pulled a knife on me but I was able to defend myself. A lot of times these racist scumbags would scream terrorist as I walked by. It was terrible when I would walk into the school cafeteria and everybody would straight up stare at me or try to avoid me. This was the case when I went to any place out in public. Eventually things got better and I made friends but I had strong hatred for Bush. I felt Bush didn't do enough to stop hate crimes against brown people in this country but helped encourage it indirectly by pushing his anti-terrorist propaganda bs such as his famous "You either with us or against us" slogan.
During Bush's presidency I joined up with student political groups that were anti-Bush and we would organize protest against him. I remember attending a school protest that got over 10,000 people that was against the Iraq war. I enjoyed screaming fuck Bush with over 10,000 people in the streets. It was a lot of fun and therapeutic to know I wasn't alone and they were other people who also hated Bush out there. This was big for me because keep in mind social media was pretty much non-existent back then so it was much harder to connect with people who had similar beliefs or get a pulse of how people were really thinking outside of what the media reported. I would participate in more protests against Bush and had a lot of optimism that this POS would not win a second term. Unfortunately I was wrong and this guy won a second term during my junior year. I remember me and a bunch of friends were devastated and was shocked that this clown could win a second term.
That victory by Bush was very demoralizing for me. I became very cynical and lost faith in this country and was no longer proud to be an American. I would graduate from school and get a job and just go through the every day motions of being a normal working adult. Suddenly a few years later Barack came out of nowhere and restored my optimism.
Trump is a scumbag but I have been through hell and back during the first 20 some years of my life. I survived Bush who I felt was a rotten scumbag during the start of my adulthood. I understand your anger of feeling targeted due to race because of the president. I felt Bush's idiocy caused Indians and other brown people to be targeted in this country. Trump's racist trolling doesn't phase me because I have dealt with it my whole entire life. Don't let it dominate your life that's how he demoralizes people. It sucks right now but Trump will not be president forever. Eventually this will come to pass.

Sucked I spent 8 years defending Obama and now I don't have the energy to go after Trump. Trump at least is so bad I don't have to expend that energy. I mean we have national news going on about how shit he is. That's never happened before in my lifetime. Even when Bush did his stupid shit and made a mockery of the US.
