Rep. Jim Renacci, potential Sherrod Brown challenger: Trump "is saying what people are thinking."

OH SEN watch: On Fox this morning, Rep. Jim Renacci (R-OH) appeared to defend Trump's profanity heard 'round the world https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/first-read/first-read-s-morning-clips-profanity-heard-round-world-n837066

OH-SEN: The Columbus Dispatch notes just how nasty a Renacci-Brown Senate race will be.

Meanwhile, Renacci appeared to DEFEND Trump’s “shithole” comment in an interview on Fox News this morning, per MSNBC’s Shirley Zilberstein.

ANCHOR: President’s comments yesterday bother you, frustrated? He lamented about the immigration program that was in front of him, says, “why are we taking so many people from these “s-hole* countries”, what is your reaction to that?

RENACCI: Well look, I’ve said all along, the president many times says what people are thinking. I learned as a business guy you have to be careful what you say because people pick everything up, believe me, when I have a mic on I have got to watch what I say. That is a business guy going into a political career. It’s difficult, I know it’s difficult for the president, because many times you want to say what you are thinking, but in the end, I know a lot of times he is saying what people are thinking.

and the support that I still see among Republicans. They are still single issue voters (guns, abortion, gays) that would vote for a yellow dog before a Democrat. I hope that I am wrong, and we can at least win back the House.

Trumpy is saying what SOME people are thinking. And there will Always be SOME people who are white supremacist bigots. Renacci is overgeneralizing and expecting to get away with it. He tries to create the notion that bigotry and racial hatred are the norm. Renacci ought to be voted out of public service. He's disgusting.

in each one that could be labeled 'shithole' due to poverty and unemployment. I want to ask this guy if he's ever traveled to Southeastern Ohio or to dying towns in the rural areas of the state.

I went to school in a tiny town, Mt. Sterling. In 1966 there were banks, a small department store, a drugstore, dry cleaners, a Chevy dealership, grain elevator, jewelry store, and several restaurants and grocers. I went back for my 50th. class reunion, and was shocked by its 'third world' look. What were once beautiful old houses were run down or deserted. One restaurant and a drive in remain. One gas station, but no grocery stores. School buildings rotting and empty. Looks like a place you would pack up and leave for a better chance at life.

This is in his state.
