Trump's tactical idiocy (denying his 'shithole' remarks) is stunning

Trump set himself (and some members of his party) for even more humiliation with his transparently false denial this morning of his 'shithole' remarks.

Now, with Sen. Durbin's confirmation of Trump's repeated 'vile' comments, republican members who were there have the option of either lying for him (with him), or acknowledge that their party's president is a disgusting racist.

Either door leads to impeachment...not to mention the fake leader of the free world insulted ALL not white folks in said world.

America now leads only Israel, Togo, Honduras and some Pacific atolls near as I can tell. And Saudi now and then...what say you, shrunken world?

to make a lot of noise. This will help in the PR war he is waging.

This strategy may work.

...with everything he says and does, mostly by their party's unwillingness to confront him.

The dynamic in the upcoming election will be concerned and affected voters clamouring to get to the polls, and any sensible center of republicans so demoralized and disaffected by the crazy that they go into hiding.

8. Trump doesn't really care about those elections or how he is impacting the GOP.

...providing members ready excuses for abandoning him.

It's not going to be tenable for republicans to stand firm against Mueller's eventual findings. The political effect will be swift and severe. Trump has not proven his presidency to be indispensable - he's already a legislative liability with his mercurial madness.

Recent events only deepen those perceptions, among both pols and the public.

Every one of these 'events', and the GOP's subsequent Sgt. Shultz act, are just one more millstone tied around the neck of the GOP.

Said it before, say it again, Trump may be the best thing in a long time for progressive policies (if we survive). The GOP have been running on dog-whistle politics for decades. An infection in the body politic that the 'decent' Republicans (re: Flake et. al.) ignored as long as they were getting elected using it. The infection spread to control the GOP primary process, and is now out in the open due to the 'really smart' Trump . . The nation is now at a turning point . . . and 33% can not be turned into a majority, without third-world levels of vote rigging.

Go Trump go . . .

3. His tweet this morning is such an obvious lie - even the timing

proves the lie. If you were claimed to have said something at an afternoon meeting that was widely criticized and condemned as soon as it hit the news, wouldn't you immediately and indignantly deny having said that thing rather than wait until the following morning?

He's a compulsive liar but he's not even good at it.
