GOP Ohio Rep. Defends Trump's Sh*thole Comments: President 'Says What People Are Thinking'

by Aidan McLaughlin | 10:12 am, January 12th, 2018

Congressman Jim Renacci appeared on Fox & Friends Friday morning, and provided a…questionable defense of President Donald Trump’s reported, and derogatory, comments about people from certain countries.

-snip-

Renacci appeared on Fox & Friends Friday morning for an interview with host Brian Kilmeade who, to his credit, scolded the president for his reported comments earlier in the morning.

When Kilmeade asked Renacci about the remarks, the Ohio Republican offered a fairly limp defense for Trump. “I’ve said all along the president many times says what people are thinking,” Renacci said. “I learned as a business guy you have to be careful what you say because people pick everything up.”

Renacci continued that Trump’s comments can be explained by his being “a business guy going into a political career.”

“I know it’s difficult for the president because many times you want to say what you are thinking but in the end, I know a lot of times he is saying what people are thinking,” he added.

Perhaps we disagree on the definition of the term racist.
But if you travel to other modern countries, the difference is striking.

"It's unknown if Trump is aware that Renacci is a proud Italian-American and that early Italian immigrants were derided by the Trumps of their day as coming from a "S---Hole" country, as were Irish, Chinese, Polish and so many other immigrants who made the U.S. "America the Beautiful."
