One third who do nothing and one third divided among themselves. Controlling the 60% of states which are home to 30% of the population gives them the Senate. Gerrymandering gives them the House. An antiquated Electoral system gives them the edge for the Presidency. And between the Executive and the Legislative branches, they populate the Judicial branch with their own. I'm not hopeful.

(12,265 posts)they very well may. If we stay home when we hear "it will be a big win for Democrats", they very well may. If we do not run good candidates for every single election, they very well may.

(42,685 posts)(or a Democrat and an independent that is aligned with the Democrats). While a lot more Democrats in the split states are up in 2018 (raising the possibility of more states having 2 republican senators), it flips the other direction in 2022.
So I doubt we're going to see republicans with 60 Senators any time soon.
