General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI know this will seem like VERY long time away but on Jan 30 trump will be giving the State of the
Union address. That is if he doesnt chicken out, which I think is a distinct possibility.
But more to my point, who and/or whom will applaud him? The general rule of thumb at this event is that virtually every utterance is applaudable. But with this president that may be seen as a political no go zone for many republicans. Who wants to be recorded applauding and cheering wildly for the nations racist in chief?
I suspect that several possibilities exist.
1: he wont show up. That is the safest escape route for all concerned. At least all republicans.
2: many republicans whose seats are up for contest in the 2018 mid terms will suddenly find they are ill, unavoidably detained, busy, etc.
3: A manufactured emergency will arise requiring, amidst much sorrow and angst, delay with no prospect of reschedule any time soon.
Please note, their is no requirement that he give a speech. All he needs to do is send a note saying all is good, later dude. Or some such third grade thing, which about what he is capable of.

He can pretend it's 2016 forever.

(52,196 posts)there's absolutely no way donnie will not make a speech.
it's the biggest "spotlight on me" event of a whole presidency.
there's zero chance of him not showing up.
will it cost some republicans? sure.
will that alter donnie's behavior? nope.
