It blows my mind to think that MLK would only be turning 89.

I was born in the early 1970s, a few years after he died, and have lived my life seeing him only as a historical figure, no different from JFK, FDR, or even farther back to people like Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, etc.

He could easily still be alive today if he hadn't been shot. In fact, he could still be actively engaged, speaking out and fighting against injustice. I don't know why I find that so fascinating, but I think about it every year at this time.
