Shortly before his death in February 2016, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia spoke favorably of Donald Trumps presidential run, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Said Bryan Garner, author of Nino and Me: Justice Scalia thought it was most refreshing to have a candidate who was pretty much unfiltered and utterly frank.
Garner added that the justice was fascinated by the fact that Trump was so outspoken in an unfiltered way, and therefore we were seeing something a little more genuine than a candidate whose every utterance is airbrushed.

(115,661 posts)It's possible for someone to be a genuine racist, sexist asshole, which Trump certainly is. The only positive thing about that sort of genuineness is that at least you know what they are thinking. Scalia didn't live long enough to see what kind of "genuine" Trump turned out to be, and I think even he would be appalled - believe it or not, Scalia, for all his right-wing opinions, consistently defended the First Amendment.
