It's Him or Us

Yes, Republicans, we’re there – the place none of us ever wanted to be. But nonetheless, here we are just the same.

Your “pResident”, Donald Shithole Trump, is a proven liar, a self-proclaimed pussy-grabbing sexual predator, an immature idiot who spends his days in office tweeting, watching TV, and playing golf.

He is lazy, mentally incompetent, and too stupid to understand the responsibilities of his office – oh, and he’s also under investigation for possible collusion with Russia in order to interfere with our elections, and the “great people” he was going to surround himself with are also under investigation and/or have already been indicted – and through it all, you have defended and supported him.

But there can no longer be any debate as to whether Donald Shithole Trump is a racist. He has called Mexicans “rapists and drug dealers”, has declared that all Haitians have AIDS, has tried to keep Muslims from entering the country because they’re terrorists, has stated that Nigerians live in “huts”, called white supremacists and KKK members “very fine people” – and he has now labelled countries with black and brown populations as “shitholes”.

Donald Shithole Trump epitomizes everything America stands against – misogyny, ignorance, divisiveness, bigotry, and racism. And there is no viable argument you can offer that alters that fact.

We are now at the crossroads, that place where you have no choice but to pick a side. The time for vacillating, obfuscating, parsing words, and defending the indefensible is over.

You either stand with Donald Shithole Trump, or you stand with your country. You either side with a racist, or you side with your fellow citizens. You either defend a lying, ignorant bigot, or you defend the principles our nation was founded upon.

There is NO middle ground here. You are either with US, the American people who believe in equality and justice for all, or you are with HIM, the man who thinks non-whites should be barred from the American dream because they’re from “shithole countries”. You are either with US, the citizens who want to welcome immigrants in the same way their own ancestors were welcomed, or you are with HIM, the man who wants that welcome restricted to people from lily-white countries like Norway.

It’s time to grow a pair. Either stand up for your country, or stand up for a man whose every action, every statement, every attitude is anti-American, and exemplifies everything our country is opposed to.

Silence is consent. And your collective silence on your “pResident’s” remarks about “shithole countries” is beyond consent – it is nothing less than collaboration with our nation’s enemies, foreign AND domestic.

If anyone ever wondered whether the GOP is the party of racists and bigots, you have finally managed to remove all doubt.

I’m just hoping impotus’ recently going from too, too vile to too, too, too vile will wake up even a few of his supporters from their amoral coma of complicity so they break with the shithole/shithouse.

courting the Klan since 1964. Trump is a symptom of the poison infecting the Republican Party. It's no longer a Party but rather a suicidal cult, bent on taking normal Americans over the cliff with them.
Steve Schmidt, a Republican advisor who ran McCain's campaign, said he wants the Republican Party burned down and rebuilt. His Twitter account was lit up on Sunday after he Tweeted his excoriation of the current Republican Party. They're slipping very close to the cult we defeated in WW II. They are an strange cult with a shifting core belief, depending on the situation. Every thing changes once the lying starts. Every day Trump tells a bigger lie, gas lighting the media with Tweets reflecting thought disorders.
The Bush Administration operated under the same concepts of telling a bigger lie every day. The normal mind can't really process the constant dissembling, but compared to Trump, the Bush cartel had some nice people.
35% still support him no matter what he says or does. He could abort his daughter's baby and eat the fetus on TV, and the cult would say "He must have been pretty hungry."
Or did the Bush cartel put him in office to clear the family name?

republicans have always had the same lack of values, bigotry, misogyny, racism, lack of compassion, greed, etc. those have always been part of who they are a requisite to become one of the party. Now they have found their idiot who can use a pen, their idiot who can proclaim out loud what they have always said inside closed doors, their idiot has given them the key to get out of that closet to support their dreams, and they will continue to do so because it is ingrained in their brains, it is the republican culture, to think otherwise, I feel, is to fool oneself.

Are they going to, by their own will and conscience, impeach the man-child? I don't think so. While the idiot with the pen continues to sign all the trash they place on the desk, they will keep him. He is like a multi-function tool, he is the Swiss Army Knives of crap that can do a lot of damage and they can still hide behind him pretending they are not accomplices. They will not get rid of him, and I hope I am very wrong, but things have to get really bad for them to do anything good for the country.

I used to be an optimist about everything, and I still am in many respects, but when it comes to expecting something good from republicans, then a pessimism that I didn't know I had comes out.

I will always remember waking up early on the day after the election and switching the TV on to see the results. What shocked me even more than Trump's election was the House and Senate going Republican. This meant that the legislative branch would have his back for whatever he wanted to do.

Despite his low national approval ratings, Repubs are still overwhelmingly supporting him according to the polls. With Repubs in control of the House, impeachment will never even get started. The 25th Amendment doesn't look like it will have any traction either.

Then there's voter suppression being carried out by a number of states and gerrymandering...

If we lose the House and Senate in 2018 we are truly fucked...

23. GOP and base forced to expose its vile core

First,agree with excellent post.

I see Trump as the inevitable unraveling of a GOP returning to its natural state as representing what FDR warned against - greedy, evil, nakedly corrupt "organized money" and monopoly, completely uninterested in people, and undemocratic by nature.

When you represent the top 1/2 of 1%, you have to exert substantial resources dividing the other 99.5% propagating phony wedge issues while screwing your constituents.

W put a nail in the coffin in that trickle down, tax cuts for wealthy, deregulation economic model.

Why, I wondered aloud, did so many people vote against their economic interests, year after year?

Thanks to Trump, the answer to me is blatantly clear. To preserve the white hierarchy. And if I'm slow in this regard forgive me. I'm too young to fully appreciate Nixon's southern strategy.

But the GOP is just a sociopathic billionaires club that, by necessity, needs a Voting base that prioritizes something more than money, because they know money and well-being is what they sacrifice.

Trump is just the GOP spokesperson, exposing the compact. In exchange for destroying your well-being, we'll actively aid your irrational xenophobia and racism. What a team.
