<snip>

Meghan McCain on Monday defended her father, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), after a Twitter user criticized him for his previous position on making Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday anniversary a federal holiday.

"Hey Meghan, remember when your dad voted against making #MLKDay a holiday?" the Twitter user wrote.

"We all live with regrets and my father points to this and his stance on the confederate flag in 2000 as 2 of them," McCain, a cohost of "The View," tweeted back in response, adding that she is "still intensely proud of him."

That won't change the fact that he voted against MLK day.
