I read that around 300 of them tried to immigrate last year.

Western Europeans are not beating down the doors to move here. I would not be surprised if it is just the opposite. If I were 30 I would be looking to work in the EU. Not immigrate. I am a proud American and will always be one. But would have enjoyed living there in my youth.
