The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth

I didn't have sex with that woman ... I only paid her so that she wouldn't tell you about it. And besides, it is none of your business.

Oh yeah?

These are the kind of things that keep me up at night.

Do you think that there should be a law against Non Disclosure Agreements ... at least in some circumstances?

Are they unethical?

Should there be a law voiding some Non Disclosure agreements? When should this go into effect?

These are some of the things which I have been thinking about lately as I am sure many of you have.
It seems to me that they are often unethical at least in some situations I think that anybody running for high elective office owes the public a true and accurate picture of their past.

Democracy demands a lot from us. You might say that she is a jealous mistress ... and I am proud to say that I have had intimate relations with her for going on 48 years now, but I digress.

A representative Democracy demands an educated and aware electorate. And it demands that the electorate receive factual relevant information from and about the candidates running for office. When we testify in court we must swear or affirm that we will tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Shouldn't we expect no less than this from persons who are running for office. It is a high goal, but a reasonable one.

In furtherance of this goal, I that perhaps all prior non disclosure agreements entered into by the candidate, with few exceptions, should become void. National security comes to mind s an exception.

What are your thoughts on the subject?
