go back to the ocean, cruel to keep them in captivity and wonder why things like this happen.

I can see temporarily keeping them for rehabilitation after an injury or illness, but forcing them to stay in captivity AND "entertain" people is just cruel.

And still have his foot. I wonder if those guys holding up the net would have been able to hold the whale back LOL! That whale could have crushed everybody on that ledge.

Sea World is a "for profit" organization that really doesn't give a shit about the animals.

This is a wild animal. It should not be in a tank doing tricks for the amusement of humans.

how far outside of what could be called normal Orcinus orca play behavior does this incident fall?
The whale had the guy for about 9 minutes during which time it could have drowned, maimed, killed or even eaten the guy, it did not it could be said it chose not too, when the guy was getting seriously air starved it brought him back to the surface
If you've watched any shows on orca behavior they usually drown mammalian prey prior to eating them but I've also seen an incident where 2 orcas play catch with a baby seal for a while and then deposit him back on shore, relatively unharmed, IMO this incident falls into that category
all of which leads me to the conclusion they are far too intelligent to be kept in captivity, same goes for other dolphin species too
