Who taught you to hate so much? You were not born that way. You are listening to people that make you hate. Have you ever thought about that?
I tell them I am a democrat, I am a liberal and I am not your enemy. You were taught that I am your enemy. You're being mislead, you're being lied to.
They usually go silent.

They DON'T all hate so much, and it's a bad idea to imagine that they do.
Yes, the 33% core of the Trump voters hat anything different: Blacks, foreigners, Muslims, Gays, etc. But we're never go to shift their votes, nor do we need to.
However, a fraction of the Trump voters were middle of the road working class who became tired of what they saw as Government failing to address their economic needs, and decided that, as bad as Trump might be, any change was an improvement over the status quo that wasn't working for them. Some of them had previously voted for Obama. And those are the voters we need to win back. Stereotyping and confronting them based on that stereotype isn't a productive strategy.

(28,252 posts)We've got better, more productive things to do, other than expending time and resources on people who were gullible enough to fall for trump's bullshit. Let them recognize the error of their ways and come back to us. Fuck the rest of them.

(11,552 posts)They required a new enemy to hate and focused on Democrats. This divisiveness is a result of cynical Republican propaganda. Your questions are a tool we can all use.

(4,379 posts)They hate Clinton. She never did anything to them. They were taught to hate her. They hate immigrants. They have never been hurt by an immigrant. As a matter of fact chances are it will be a white person, friend, lover, co worker, boss that will hurt them during their lives. They hate pro choice people. They think we are pro abortion. They don't understand the word choice.

That should shut some of them up. For a while, anyway.

(5,042 posts)He was whining about some family health care plan he had years ago that was too expensive or whatever and then launches into a diatribe about scumbags who get free health care and are pieces of shit as far as he was concerned.
I asked him why blame poor people and instead blame the system that charges people unreasonable prices for a basic human right? He of course shut the fuck up with his passive aggressive I dont want to get into the politics of it blowoff but the hate was clearly seething. Never mind his own daughter is on all sorts of federal assistance but he says nothing about that....
The hate is palpable.

(31,979 posts)that Liberals are the ones who hate. They think we hate Christians and all white people, makes no difference if you tell them we are the inclusive ones. They hate all the different ones we include (gay, women, minorities, foreign born, etc.)

(36,457 posts)Two were friends & Christian. They made sure to let all of us know that. I avoided them as best I could, but I couldn't help but overhear a lot of their conversation. It was full of hate & dislike. They discussed things they didn't like. "Oh, I hate that movie." "I can't stand the way she styles her hair these days." (This about a common friend.) "I hate when the store doesn't have what I want." It was I hate this & I hate that & I can't stand this & that. I thought it was interesting.

(4,516 posts)but their parents and peers made sure they learned it early in life. Think about it - how many people actually choose their religion? For most, it was inherited from their parents. It's the same with hate.

(2,176 posts)There are about 47 million individuals in that cesspool. There were 219 million eligible voters and only 161 million voted, therefore it is much more important to spend time talking to the 90 million who didnt vote. Thats where my efforts are going.
