I come to DU looking for positives, not to bash Democrats.

When their actions deserve bashing, I will do so.

I've seen the Chuck & Lucy play before. I suppose in 17 days, when DACA is still just a figment in the Democrats' imagination, it still won't be time to criticize the Democrats.

Like they say after a mass shooting, too soon?

Too bad we are even in this position at all, eh!

Could have been avoided but oh well.

There is even a thread here by EarlG asking for your suggestions

Putting aside the CHIP funding, which the repubs would have had to relent on anyways, tell me how the Democrats are going to be in any better position in 17 days?

Perhaps the bottom line is that the Democrats are in a pretty shitty position overall, and we really had no cards left to play. I am willing to accept the fact that they have to leg to stand on, and we should be happy they got an assurance from Mitch that DACA will get discussed next month.

The repubs will have 17 days to resume bashing the Democrats, and setting it up to fully blame them if there is a shutdown on the 9th.

To the average American Idiot, Drumpf has saved face. He won't be giving the SOTU with a backdrop of a government shutdown. For him, that is a huge victory. He lost his 1 year party over the weekend, but PR wise, it's the SOTU that will get the national attention anyways, so putting this momentarily in the past, will allow him to avoid that criticism.

You will have to excuse me, I am sensitive to criticism without specific ideas because I saw a lot of that recently.
