Now That I Have Been Diagnosed W/A Medical Situation That Leaves Future In Some Doubt ----

wondering if I will live beyond Trump's hateful presidency. Watching all this hateful crap and all the lies is even more stressful.

At least I have decent health insurance. In the last four years I lost my foot to staff. My wife had her hip replaced the next year. This year she was diagnosed with a heart problem. The medical problems are bad enough but seeing these terrible elections is really just as bad in many ways. I really feel for others who don't have any insurance.

I feel so sad and angry at this terrible spectacle. As a vet I hate to see all this destruction and the ABUSE of our troops as props. Pence is such an evil shithead. That clip in Israel is just sickening.

Fifty years ago I was in Vietnam with the 1st Calvary. Looking back I would have never believed back then that our county could possibly elect such gang of despicable POS who are dismantling and destroying everything the US has built up. That neonazism, racism, hatred, bigotry, misogyny would infest the land like maggots..

What are our veterans risking their lives for right now? Where is the rage against Ryan & McConnel who are grinning over their supposed victory on the shut down. Their antics are going to kill many Americans in the end.

What has happened to us that we would support deporting 700,000 Dreamers who did not violate the law. We make them double victims. Where are the tar and feathers. What can we do to punish these creeps?

Of course we must win big in November. But we also know that the rich will put billions into the election, the Russians will be allowed to spread their mayhem far and wide, and the GOP and it racial hatred machine will be purging, cheating and threatening anyone who appose them. And the churches will politic from every pulpit like foxes screw.

i am not in a very good mood tonight. Of course i can be accused of never being in a good mood probably.

What has been difficult for me is having to witness the slow dismantling of the underpinnings of our country since Ronald Reagan. Because I worked at DOL in various programs it is easier for me to recognize things that the general public has no idea about. Each election cycle I could see key saboteurs being in power. The GOP has undermined so much in 30 plus years.

What we have today has been a well orchestrated plan. Trump and his gang are the final result of so much of our previous history. What has me so aghast is that the American people have fallen for so much of the GOP lies through previous decades.

I have been looking for turn around that will end the GOP. From my view the GOP is far worse than anyone right now can imagine.

You probably know that by now.

I am not sure what it will take to get the obscenely wealthy out of the equation. Probably nothing legal, at this point.
Maybe a rich person's virus ?
I know they can destroy the economy, and us, and make money by doing it.

What is strange is that I feel "perfectly ok" with virtually no pain or complaints except the usual somewhat minor things of being actually old. It is hard to not let your imagination run.

Many of us on DU are seniors and fighting our own battles. Seeing some of our other posters pass on is painful really. AT least we have this community even though we get after each other now and then.

I have posted some pretty bad stuff from time to time out of anger or just not paying attention. After working at DOL for 24 years and seeing so many screwed workers I am really sensitive to the injustice.

In the greater scheme of things, Trump is but a noise on a distant shore.

When it's daylight, sit on your back porch. Play music that you like. Look at the clouds. In the evening, sit on your back porch. Play music that you like. Look at the stars.

Politics matter, to be sure. But in the greater scheme of things, all politics is but noise on a distant shore. Things have a way of balancing out. They just do. So don't obsess about politics. Instead, just enjoy the day. Enjoy the minute.

Like you, I struggle with serious health problems. And I have learned what to prioritize, and what to put on the back burner. I wish you happiness. And I wish you well.

The real problem is there have been a glut of Trumps since Reagan. Like termites or dry rot in your house we knew things were getting worse, but we had no idea how really bad it was.

With the money glut in Congress I really am not sure it can be fixed.

The slim hope I see are the angry people at Town Halls, the massive women’s Marches, and above all our young who see what is going on. They are much more aware than we give them credit for.

...is: "We would have missed out on Barack Obama." I mean that -- those were 8 years of grace and a chance to build again. But as I often said here, only a chance, and so much depended on other people than Obama -- like us, and like the good will of the GOP. Thus America blew the chance.

Right now is possibly the worst and most perilous time in our history, and it is hard as hell to see any good in the future. My husband and I are 70 -- so same age cohort as you, MN. I have no advice to give except to hang on, check in here, and occasionally check to see what the Resistance is doing. There's an awful lot of younger people involved, and women are popping up all over the country filing to run for political offices.

In other words, when Hillary Clinton's chances at the presidency were murdered in cold blood, the story was by NO means over.

600,000 people marched in Los Angeles this weekend, 200,000 in New York, and more across the country. At every rally there were not just speakers but activists at card tables registering people to vote and handing out information and showing how to participate.

That's where my hope is residing. May we all live to see our democracy and republic renewed.

The medical situation just adds to it.

I agree that we are in a dangerous situation. The GOP in the end is just as ruthless as the Nazis were. In the end they will show their real and true nature. We see only a glimpse of how evil they really are.

There is very little coverage of the terrorism going on with immigrations. We have OUR gulags right now under the radar. very little coverage is coming out on the stories of the suffering and misery of individual people. The MSM is just saying all the same generic bull and covering for these goons.

McDonnell and Ryan are deadly sociopaths. No doubt about it. Their intentions and tactics are very malevolent.

Childhood deaths have fallen spectacularly. Fewer die from violent deaths. Every day the world as a whole greatly improves. I know that’s not reported but there are actually many reasons to be hopeful. Small pox gone, polio gone, AIDS drugs thanks heavily to Clinton Foundation now affordable throughout Africa. President Obama’s recently said this is the greatest time ever to be born. It seems hard to believe but if you look at the facts he is probably right. And the future will continue to have amazing improvement. Search Kurzweil predictions cebit. He talks for about 30 minutes before questions. He has been making unbelievable, optimistic predictions for 30 years. 86% accuracy. And he foresees fantastic improvements. People watch bad news, not good news. So we see biased stories. And here we have creepy Republicans but they too will pass. Young voters are with us big time and soon, 10 years maybe less, they will be a tidal washing these creepy Republicans away.

I too figure my years are getting short, But I am serene in my knowledge happy days will finally come to our heirs. They need a break and I think they will get it.

These times are draining, maddening, even horrifying, but if you look hard enough there are bright spots everywhere.

Think of all the determined people out in the streets over the weekend. About 300,000 marched just in Chicago, double that in Los Angeles.

Reread some of the threads here that are bursting with support and encouragement for our beloved DU veterans.

Remember the people in a flooded Houston who formed the human chain and rescued that stranger back in August.

People like this are everywhere and eventually they will trample over the detestable Donald Trump and his hateful enablers. Count on it.

Hope is at times elusive, but please try to find it and grab hold. Believe in a new day, believe in a better way. Just believe. This isn't unicorn thinking. I've seen the darkest of the dark. Hold on. We have your back.

It must be human nature to think the worst. It is more of a struggle when you are older. You realize that that you best years are behind you in many ways. It is nearly impossible to ignore what is going on right now. Most of us older folks knew a time when things looked more positive despite the turmoil. I'm sorry for your news. We care about you, MN, and want the best for you always.

I am glad that you have decent insurance. I can really get down about things too, but I find that going on humor websites or watching old, funny movies or anything transporting (period pieces, sci fi, fantasy) can really take me out of my head and relieve my angst about politics and the state of the world. It completely takes me out of this day and age and makes me forget everything. Have you ever seen the "Thin Man" films with William Powell and Myrna Loy? They are my favorites! I have watched them over and over again.

Especially so when every woman on the planet is out there wearing pink skullcaps!

Women are coming together so it’s time to perk up and watch. It will change the course of events. Just ask your wife.

Trump has served to bring us together like never before in our lifetimes. We all have someone we can truly resist!
