don't go to the Tsunami site unless you need to. I accidentally clicked on it from the Reddit site and it was jammed, so I backed out.

but they are up high so they are safe unless it is a 90' one like in Japan which had an earthquake that was MUCH larger (9.0). I am a few miles inland so I am safe.

When the tsunami hit CA from Japan it was only a foot or so high but people wanted to see it and got too close and a few of them died when they were washed off the rocks and docks (lack common sense). There was damage to boats and stuff.

It is incredible. Nature is amazing. They have a ton on You Tube from all the cities that were hit and each one is different due to how the land is shaped, the height, etc. They were very well prepared in Japan.

12. The Latest: Police: No wave reported amid tsunami warning
Tue Jan 23, 2018, 07:37 AM
Jan 2018
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — The Latest on an Alaska earthquake that prompted a tsunami warning for coastal Alaska, Canada’s British Columbia and the West Coast of the U.S. (all times local):

2:30 a.m.

The city of Kodiak, Alaska, was projected to see the first wave at about 1:45 a.m., about an hour after an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 8.2 prompted a tsunami warning.

About a half hour later, Lt. Tim Putney of the Kodiak Police Department said there had been no reports of a wave and nothing had been seen, yet.

However, officials were telling people to hold fast at evacuation centers until further notice. He said the town has several shelters above the 100-foot mark, and they were still encouraging people below that level to evacuate.

The earthquake woke Putney up out of a dead sleep, and he estimates it shook for at least 30 seconds.

The police had not received any reports of damage.

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center said the quake was felt widely in several communities on the Kenai Peninsula and throughout southern Alaska, but it also had no immediate reports of damage.
